.....no free broadband!! Perhaps that means some of you still will?
I might even take a chance regardless.

It’s only tittle tattle as I can tell. If true it didn’t hurt Boris at the polls but I hope the Tories don’t go down this route.

guido is continuing to push this stuff today, i guess in the hope some bit of the tory press will pick it up. but so far it only makes him seem more interesting.

And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

A few too many assumptions there Herbie.

Should I waste my time engaging with you as you seem to want to fight? Happy to chat when you are less agro. I haven't got the time or want right now.

Yes, it's £280 a year, not a month: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c6ppd6p12k4o

I'm not a million miles away from that particular bracket and whilst my mortgage has gone up massively and I've had to be careful with spending as a result, I could find £20 a month extra in tax without being bankrupt and I'd be happy to pay it if it meant a better country.

I totally agree and I retract my earlier statement in that case. That is not nearly as bad. I've had a mare there.

The only thing I would say is I'd be setting the threshold higher and taxing far wealthier who can afford it. Household income rather than individual always seems much fairer as well.

But hands up got that wrong. Thanks.

Fair play, mate. And broadly agree with your other points too.
