I'm not a million miles away from that particular bracket and whilst my mortgage has gone up massively and I've had to be careful with spending as a result, I could find £20 a month extra in tax without being bankrupt and I'd be happy to pay it if it meant a better country. |
I totally agree and I retract my earlier statement in that case. That is not nearly as bad. I've had a mare there.
The only thing I would say is I'd be setting the threshold higher and taxing far wealthier who can afford it. Household income rather than individual always seems much fairer as well.
