That 80 billion investment in health and insulation could easily be covered by the tax on the 1% and wouldn't even make a dent in their finances. |
That's the thing that always gets me - a thing that really stinks the human race out - that tax would be utterly meaningless to those 1% except in just one way* and they could have the joy of knowing that had funded something totally wonderful.
Can you imagine the pride of knowing you had helped so many people, or prevented so much CO₂ entering the upper atmosphere and harming themselves and their children and their children's children as well as everybody else?
* That one way is purely an ego hit - "I'm not giving them my 'hard-earned' money" - despite the fact that to them it would probably be small change sitting in a forgotten account somewhere. But it's: "They're not having it, I 'competed' for it!" It's totally irrational. |  |
