Well I know which team would have the better left back!
No doubt! And while we’re talking round pegs in round holes, I’d have Morsy ahead of TAA in midfield too. I wouldn’t question the quality of the other nine England starters, yet can’t help thinking we’d be pretty comfortable against them.
I think England would struggle to beat anyone in the top two divisions with the exception of maybe last season’s bottom three our four in the Championship.
England have the better players but Town have the better team. And, as alluded to above, the same can be said about the entire Premier League and most of the Championship.
May I put a kink in your hypothetical and suggest a goalie swap ? We can then ask the questions 'Would England play out from the back with more verve and vigour if Hladky was in goal ?' and 'Would Town stop letting in stupid goals early and late in games if Pickford was bawling his head off at the defence all the time ?'
I would say England. Of course, they may not be playing particularly well but they are up against international quality players and I think they would just be too good for us.
It would be a different game, however, if they were playing Liverpool or Man City both of whom are packed full of internationals and play as team.
I think club sides, certainly top club sides, would fare very well against international teams if only because the players will have spent more time together on style of play, training, etc.
How far down the club structure you would need to go before the "familiarity" of a club side is out-weighed by the superior talent of the international team is an interesting question.

Pickford is good with his feet though. That he’s been hoofing it long so much in the first two games of this tournament is another indication of the dysfunction in the team.Vas wouldn’t have had anyone to pass to either. A really vocal keeper like Pickford could really help Town, you’re right. Vas is pretty quiet and Walton too, from memory. Another category for the data dashboard.
Even with Town bias we'd beat this England team because they are about as uncohesive a team as you'll get. Southgate fallen for the old trap of trying to shoehorn players into a team at the expense of overall team shape. And his reluctance to attack teams once ahead does him no favours.
This England team reminds me of the one from the 92 Euro's albeit with much better quality. At least Taylor had an excuse.
And let's put it another way, if KMc was England boss they'd go and win the bloody thing.

This is where I am on the subject. Incohesive is exactly right.
I like Southgate - he’s a decent bloke and at previous tournaments he’s had players playing without the fear that I associate with England teams at previous tournaments. Not this time though. I don’t remember 1992 Euros that well, but England so far have reminded me of World Cups 2006 under Sven and 2014 under Roy. Absolutely feeble.
This video is really good (from the same guy who explained how well-equipped Town are for the PL a few weeks ago):
And yes, Kieran would have these players doing incredible things.

It is remarkable the effect of being able to train players together week in week out.
Southgate could probably employ better tactics but his biggest problem is that he has players from 15 different clubs trying to learn how each other play in a few weeks together. It is notable how few new signings are up to speed with Town until several weeks training with us.

Other international teams don't appear to have this issue though - even those with a lesser quality of players to England.
