Anyone watch his set yesterday? Thought he was great.

It was great, quite liked his playing partner too 😉

Nice to see Norman Cook on bass, looked like he had never stopped being the Housemartins.

He's always been great. Have been a big fan since first hearing 'Caravan of Love' on my mum's Now 9 VHS.

Is my favourite song he's sung on. It's a real shame that Jacqui Abbott is unwell, but Rianne Downey has done and incredible job filling in for the winter tour and glasto

This has to be my deep cut favourite of his. Paul Heaton really knows how to handle a delicate tune.

Yep, he was superb, as was Rianne accompanying him.

My cousin was in a band alongside the Housemartins in Hull in the mid-80s, then one night the Housemartins were spotted by an A&R bod and never looked back.

Phil, if you’re reading this my cousin’s bands were Savannah St Stompers, which morphed into Tough Guys Don’t Dance.

I'm thinking she is a bit of a Beatles fan.

He's a bit of a lefty, but this is well worth a watch.

As an aside, the Housemartins were one of the very few artists I saw who had a personality and sense of humour between songs.

This is a particularly apt song for our times.

Thoroughly enjoyed watching that.
Cheers for sharing it.

Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

Although I have a lot of acts yet to plough through, I thought Paul Heatons set was the pick of the crop yesterday. One of those where you forget how many amazing songs he’s had. And his voice is spot on. Love the Norm reunion as well.

As regards the Housemartins, I was never sure if many people got the fact their lyrics were rather radical or biting, given they were hidden under very catchy tunes.

The song Heaton performed with Norman Cook yesterday was a case in point.

It's another night out with the boss
Following in footsteps overgrown with moss
And he tells me that women grow on trees
And if you catch them right, they will land upon their knees

Where they open all their wallets, and they close all their minds
And they love to buy you all a drink, and then we ask all the questions
And you take all your clothes off and go back to the kitchen sink

He's stuck to his principles and it was a good set. Did anyone benefit from when he put money behind bars during his tour last year?

I've always admired his ability to perform in some kind of anorak zipped to the neck.
