Elephant's now pitched up on the Star website 11:36 - Jun 28 with 8665 viewshype313

One for the miss column - of which there are rather more than a few given the right on stats-led approach of the gnomes sitting at the revolving door. All very well when they are jobbing footballers at the fag end of the league where the franchise successfully money doped their way upward - but the franchise is now shopping for overpaid, overindulged mercenaries expecting what might euphemistically called a minimum of half a Kieran just to turn up. As that expert in club destruction you interviewed the other day might have told you a sub 50% success rate is not just ruinously expensive - it threatens the clubs added value and has the aging prog rocker reaching for his ulcer medication.

Do they allow replies on there?

Not that he’d read them anyway, you’d think a guy apparently so strong in his views would stick around to defend them on here but nope, just dump a load of waffle and leave.

When he frst pitched up ont here had been someone using a different username which was the same one that he used on EADT to slag the club off. Can't remember what it was but when I pointed it out that username stopped posting on both here and the EADT ,the elephant of gloom then appeared on here posting in the same style.

I stopped viewing the EADT/Star comments log ago because there was always an ElephantOfGloom syle commentor on there exercising his misery and little else.

On here I have div listed the ElephantOfGloom because it was so tedious reading the same negative shlt all the time .

Even Elephant bingo got boring.

Haven't missed him in the slightest.

Well you can’t be surprised he’s not a happy chappy - they just got bent over in the playoffs by the flakiest playoff team in the country. Now they are likely to have a fire sale of assets this summer to stave off FFP.

Oh, and he has a nightmare trying to buy gloves that fit.

I see him on every post on the EADT too.

I can't work out if he is an eldery Ipswich fan whose living room is a shrine to the cobbolds and wishes a packet of cigs still cost a pound or an extremely sad budgie fan with a thesaurus

There were 2 similar weirdos who used to constantly post on EADT - Pundit and Poet. Both with similar negative at all times outlooks. I seem to remember Poet would get indecently excited in regards to Derby's approach of throwing money around and would be insisting ME should be doing similar

Fairly sure Elephant was Pundit

Just binned him off. Had tried to resist as it can make the board hard to read, but the Putin defence on Ukraine in another thread just now was the last straw.

I actually have genuine sympathy for him and have known one or two similar characters over the years.

I think he genuinely believes much of what he writes and probably does think he's imparting wisdom to those that don't have the same measure of grey matter. He's probably oblivious to what those of him in real life really think, and would probably not be too concerned regardless.

Alternatively he's a magnificent creation that would be worthy of applause.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

It's part genuine anger and righteous bitterness towards the modern game, framed by ITFC's admin etc., and part trolling. I don't really understand the levels of annoyance he receives tbh.

I doubt that Star poster is the same person. Nerdy is more articulate and less abusive.

Yep, I mean if you're going to do that sort of stuff, at least put some humour behind it.

He just sounds like some rambling, old local nutter, who's consumed far too much Special Brew.

Heffalump isn’t a troll or a budgie.

He went up enormously in my estimation a few years ago (before the takeover) under one of his previous names (Voice of Reason or Nerdy Know All), after I challenged him as to exactly what he’d do to improve ITFC.

For a while, there was nothing, and I was about to say he had nothing to offer, when he posted a long and well-written plan outline what he’d do.
Not all of it was realistic, or likely, or even ideas that everyone would necessarily agree on, but it proved he’s a genuine Town fan, even though his usual MO is to criticise anyone and anything.

"I don't really understand the levels of annoyance he receives tbh."

It's because he posts nothing but negativity re ITFC, regularly - not one single positive thing ever, despite this being the best time we've had in over 20 years. You can start the day feeling top of the world about that - then read one of his posts & immediately find yourself groaning, & mood lowered. He's a drag-you-down.

Oh it is the same person. Unless someone else is cutting and pasting his comments from one site to the other. He verbatim said the same thing on here and the star/eadt on similar ITFC article's.

Oddly, although I occasionally bite and reply to his nonsense posts, a few times he's displayed great knowledge of ITFC stats and the like from back as far as the 60's.

I think he's a Town fan (follower?) but likely a lonely older chap, rarely noticed in the real world, so comes here to get his attention.

THIS IS DEMOC-RRRRRRR-ACY MANIFEST!

Agree entirely. Not one optimistic or happy post about anything ever. Nothing. It’s depressing.

I freely admit that I bite more than I should. I do not share his view of the past or the present and doubt he’s an ITFC follower. There’s enough information out there to write on any aspect of the club, past or present, without being a supporter, in my view.

Jokes aside, and I did the OP, I can see why he has issues, as we all do with the nature of football these days, the halcyon days are long gone and we'd all love to have that local ownership and affinity, but football has moved on whether we like it or not, and you just have to embrace the change.

It won't go back to scotch's with the Cobbolds regardless of how we feel.

It was noteworthy that he didn't post anything for some time after we were promoted. By noteworthy, I mean joyous.
