It’s not a Die Hard movie dollers. You can’t just go shooting people without an order. They aren’t allowed to make judgement calls on their own.

"Judgement call"?!? A guy is pointing a rifle at the former president, I don't think you need a lot of judgement to tell what's going to happen. Absolutely ridiculous.
And how do you explain that he managed to get into the complex with a rifle and ammunition, without being searched, managed to climb up on a roof without being seen, then set up on said roof whilst people on the ground were pointing out there's a gunman... and snipers on a higher roof didn't manage to see any of this (or were waiting the entire time for an order)?!
Pretty rubbish way of protecting someone. I'm sure if I pulled a gun on the king the security services would take me down immediately, not wait until I'd had a few pops at him.
EDIT: The security services on the ground, who smothered Trump, were shouting that the shooter was down. How did they know there was only one? [Post edited 16 Jul 2024 11:40]

Not sure that I get 'something fishy going on' from this article, more a sense of uncoordinated individuals communicating poorly and not taking responsibility. You would have thought a presidential candidate would have had the thoroughness to assemble a well versed team to ensure their man had adequate security and that the Security Services would have had enough sense of importance to assess threats and respond with greater alacrity. Not a good look or any recommendation for reelection in my opinion. | |
