Not that disappointed... 06:26 - Jul 15 with 1588 views | franz_tyson | because we've been mostly crap during this tournament and the best side in the tournament dominated us during this final and deservedly beat us. Football won out and it would have been a bit of an injustice. Fair play to Southgate and the players for showing a bit of resilience to get to the final, but f#ck we've been lucky and hardly played any decent football along the way. Kieran must have spoiled me.
Not that disappointed... on 06:48 - Jul 15 with 1485 views | Churchman | I agree with every word of that barring the title. I am disappointed. Not as much as when ITFC lose but yeah, still disappointed. We made the final (god knows how) and had an opportunity. Our set up and approach was so poor we never stood a snowballs chance in hell. A collection of strangers, some of whom were not very good, were beaten by a proper, really good team. I can’t imagine Spain losing to Brazil or Argentina at the moment. They’re that good. England’s players were not set up in any game, including this one, to maximise their strengths. It was old fashioned cautious football. Unfit and old tiring players, promising but swamped younger players. We were so slow, ponderous and nullified our own strengths. Palmer’s goal was lovely and while Watkins didn’t do a great deal, his mobility pushed Spain back for a while. Loyalty is a lovely thing, but there comes a time for hard decisions and dropping Kane to the bench was one of the obvious ones. He was abject and made Lee Chapman in his time here look like Usain Bolt. On the upside there is the basis of a really good team there. Whatever, it is what it is. Back to the real stuff and the new season. Can’t wait.
Not that disappointed... on 09:18 - Jul 15 with 1337 views | Swansea_Blue | It's the 'what could have been' question that everyone will be chewing over. England certainly were the lesser footballing side, but was that a foregone conclusion or more because of how we were set up? The inquest will probably go on for a while.

Same with Italy. The Italian fans I know laugh their heads off at England fans, over the 'we've been negative in this tournament'. They laugh because as they say Italian fans don't give a f*** they've been boring and nrgative in previous tournaments, the most important thing for them is the 4 W/Cs and 2 Euro winners medals. France have also been setup in most of the recent tournaments not to lose the game, 1-0 win is fine.
Not that disappointed... on 09:57 - Jul 15 with 1211 views | Rimsy | We were awful the whole tournament. As we're all the other teams, even Spain while obviously the best side, are a shadow of the Spain who won the euros and World Cup. Horrible tactics from Southgate, managed to stifle all the flair from the team. How many times did we hear 'Pickford goes long' with England rarely picking up the scraps. With a competent modern manager we should have won 2 or 3 tournaments.

I suppose that's all well and good when you actually win tournaments

So many people think that the most attacking team and going all out push will win. But easy to forget Real Madrid turned up to face Liverpool in the Champions League Final with a stellar team and excellent manager and parked the bus and won 1-0.

That's great, but we've been dull AND failed to win, would be lovely to be dull and have a list of winning achievements I'm sure.

I know why Greece are being brought up 20 years later. Because they were 2004 Euro champions and not very good. So being Euro winners doesn't disguise everything... we still remember.

It wasn't great by any means but I think alot of the negativity has been way over the top, especially from certain media pundits. When you've got Roy Keane hardly Mister happy most of the time, actually saying positive things about England then you know the negativity is being blown out of proportion.
Not that disappointed... on 13:23 - Jul 15 with 839 views | SuffolkSpezial | Really surprised that this "elite" group of players were not brave enough to try and play through the Spain's high press... They should be good enough to do that. I wouldn't say many of the players got anywhere near performing at the levels they do for their clubs. Southgate cannot be blamed for that.
