Stansted Airport help 13:28 - Jul 19 with 1835 viewsunbelievablue

My sister flies back from Portugal on Sunday 4th. I fly out to Portugal on Monday 5th. She lives in the Midlands, I live in South East London. We're staying at the same villa, my brother-in-law's place, and I need to get the keys off them. Nowhere to leave them on site in Portugal, and feels *probably* safer to seek options in the UK. Anyone aware of a solution at Stansted? Coded lockers etc?

A cursory google doesn't fill me with much hope - LeftBaggage doesn't allow different people to deposit and collect, naturally.

Give them a call, or use the enquiries form on website.

Is there not a neighbour or someone staying nearby in Portugal you could ask?

Another British family holidaying nearby that overlap the two?

Is there not a house maintenance service or the like in Portugal who for a small fee will hang on to the key for you to collect?

Or maybe a firm of solicitors would do this.

Have her hand them in as Lost and Found with a really clear and visible key ring which includes your name and number... when lost and found call you say 'oh my god thanks, I will come pick them up' et voila!

This does seem like the best option but I think the brother-in-law/family is ultra cautious on security. I'll try and push him to do this instead.

I can fully understand that.

Has he not used a solicitor or estate agents in the past which he might trust?

My thinking is if she’s delayed on the flight etc, atleast keys are in the area and not the air!

Yeah the worst case scenario is a bit rubbish.

Your sister could get a second set of keys cut while in Portugal and post them to you or your brother in law (to be collected by you) while she's still there.

Under a flower pot, no burglar would ever think of looking there.

Most airports don't have safety deposit storage / coded lockers, perfect place for leaving a bomb

Get her to put them in a sealed envelope with your name on and give it to a local bar or convenience store - obviously don’t put the address on or anything.

If you get to the airport an hour earlier than usual you should be bang on time to catch her delayed arrival.

Hotel at Stansted on the night of the 4th, drive up, meet sister, get keys, check in to hotel without the worry of an early start and rush to the airport the next day?

You get the keys and a lie in?

I would warn against taking the keys out of Portugal: that's asking for trouble. Apart from that, idk what to suggest, sorry. Depends what time you arrive in PT. Of the suggestions above, the "copy keys and post them" seems most sensible, and if they don't arrive in time, then Plan (B), find somewhere to leave the originals.

Does your sister not talk to the neighbours?

About a year after we moved in here I decided to tidy up the front and lifted the doormat. There was a front door key there.
