I'm always a bit suspicious of studies like this if they don't talk about concentration levels. I'm staunchly pro-environment, anti-pollution, but modern analytical techniques can detect vanishingly small concentrations of pollutants and there's a lingering suspicion that these sort of stories are sometimes clickbait (if you'll pardon the pun) if they are not clear about what kinds of levels are being detected and of what seriousness they are. Sharks/Charlie makes for a good headline. |  |

The studies do talk about concentrations but science reporting is so abysmal across most outlets that they never think to actually link the studies they are talking about.

Thanks, I was too off my face when I wrote that to bother to look for the study! Looks like about 80 parts per billion max from that. No idea how that compares to a human coke head and whether that has any biological significance to a shark, but are they aggressive in general? | |
