"To flounce" - to act in an impatient, impetuous or exaggerated manner 12:18 - Aug 1 with 1717 viewsmonty_radio

According to various Oxford sources, although the word's origin is obscure, this definition seems to sum up flouncing's various attributes.

To suggest that someone who posts that they are concerned that Town's purchases thus far might leave us short, or that said purchases are not as powerful a pull as had been hoped, does not say to me that such a poster is "flouncing".

So, for the sake of clarity, can I suggest that someone who can say with certainty that "to flounce" now means also "to offer a minority opinion that one's club's transfer dealings have not lived up to their hopes, even while realising that the transfer window has a further month yet to run" contact the O.E.D. or Websters forthwith to update them, and for the avoidance of future transfer window confusion.

Urban dictionary states that to flounce, is to act like a dramatic bitch for attention seeking purposes.

Sounds about right.

WW3 about to start.
Far right fighting the streets and taking over social media
Pensioners and the middle about to get bent over by the government once more
Crime at an all time high with no-one around to help.
Strikes, strikes and more strikes in the public sector
Crippling society, no prospects, no joy, no kindness.

We are at the business end of destruction.

Playing devils advocate here.

If there's no substance behind anyone saying the signings made so far don't as yet give them confidence..

What's the substance behind anyone saying it does.

Aren't both just opinions, neither one is pathetic, just personal opinion?

There's no real facts to go on to be able to say with confidence that the signings are good enough for prem, likewise there isn't any facts to say they aren't. So therefore both sides of the opinions are literally just personal opinion without any foundation.

Argh what is wrong with me...

Exactly, I agree with Frimmers.

We have no data to show otherwise. We have hope but calling something pathetic is just silly. We are fine and we will sign more.

Did I say anything was factually incorrect?

Merely pointing out then your post might be a touch flouncy.

Love the way you've dived straight into the personal comments there as well.

Absolutely. Language like "pathetic", and "flounce" and "bedwetting" rather than engaging and expressing an alternative view is less than helpful.

I agree that we're fine and that we'll sign more. But having the opinion that we will struggle is valid. Objective observers expect us to go down. Just because one wants that not to happen does mean it won't. Personally I have so much respect for Kieran that I think we'll stay up, but a diversity of views should not only be allowed to exist but should not be shot down with puerile and unnecessary language.

Yes because you’ve never really watched any of them play, have zero clue how KM wants to utilise them and have generally proven to be very misguided with opinions on very good performing players even after watching them game after game.

Well this thread isn't about me specifically and nor my post.

You've also got presumptions in your post anyway... zero clue how KM wants. Very true. But then unless you're KM then neither do you. You can guess of course and presume.

But I will counter you're opening view here.

Even if I or anyone else had watched every signing every week since they were senior players. There's still no facts to back up a view that they have what it takes in the prem. Now again you can presume and fair enough if you want to but that's again the point. Your opinion is based on guesswork to as they is nothing to go on.

Then again to state "I have no confidence in this season's transfers" is quite different from flouncing about it. Those that flounce about it could then have a little flounce about whether or not their actions rigidly depict the definition of flouncing too. Alternatively, they could reflect on whether it is possible they could have over-reacted and maybe the club has got some credibility over transfer dealings that have taken them from a very ordinary mid-table League 1 side to one that has won back-to-back automatic promotions to reach the Premier League.

As was put to a poster in another thread, what signings were you expecting us to make and why would those have given you more confidence?

I can't specially say what signings would bring me confidence, it will just happen naturally. Its just for me at present our signings are solid signings for the future but don't feel me with confidence that they are ready for the prem week in week out. Theyall all high potential players. As I said across the forum. The signings aren't bad and they are good squad members to have.. I just can't look at the squad as it is and think yep that's strong enough.

But that's my own opinion on it as things stand.

This was addressed in another thread. There have always been terrible things happening in the world and in this country. The difference is how instantly and widely they are spread on social media and in the news.

Are you old enough to remember Jamie Boulger, the miners' strikes, and plenty more? There will always be wars and rumours of wars. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.
