Compare it to this fella, who’s apparently been attacked and racially abused last night and it’s pretty stark what effects this is having on communities.

The Sunderland club shop had two rails of shirts stolen too apparently. A fitting tribute for those poor little girls no doubt.

Anjem Choudary got sent down for life last week. And quite rightly too. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c729598n1d4o.amp

The parallels with Steven Yaxley-Lennon are scarily close at times. It’s the same model of arms-length messaging and recruitment to the cause, whilst steering clear of actual calls to violence. I wonder how long it will be before we see a bigger effort from the Government against the likes of Lennon?

I think them 2 should be made to fight it out like Gladiators back in the day… then when the winner stands victorious… send in the lions.

That’s the difference with Choudary isn’t it; he was fronting banned organisations, so easier to prosecute. I’d be more than happy for whatever groups these wannabe Nazis belong to to join that banned list. They function the same way. Whatever the EDL lot are called now. And that’s another parallel with Choudary - the changing and blurring nature of the groups he encouraged.

The problem is that the EDL no longer exists and these racists aren’t members of any specific group. They are using new online tactics.

Because I think he'd tie himself in knots

Neo nazis are either incredibly evil people or painfully ignorant. It's the ignorant ones, who tattoo their bodies with images of this hateful ideology, who tie themselves in knots when they open their mouths. But that's not a surprise when there's baffling support from the most unlikely places for this variety of scum:

In September last year Canadian President Trudeau and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy lead the standing ovation for a former Waffen SS veteran in Canadian Parliament:

And as we were talking about Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, Pro-Israel groups headed by ardent Zionists have been backing "Tommy Robinson":

"The support Robinson has received from a web of Israel-backing groups may be about more than just protecting “free speech.” As at least Pipes and Horowitz have made clear, it’s also about advancing his ideas."

Pffft, "unknowingly?"

The PM of Canada didn't realise that to fight against Russia in WW2 in Europe was to fight on the side of Nazi Germany?.

I'm pretty.sure Liz Truss would have even known that.

And don't forget also that Canada took in 1000's of Nazi after WW2. Was that done "unknowingly" too?

Stephen Yaxley Lennon will wear/say/do anything for cash. He’s happy to take their money because it allows him powerful allies to help fuel his anti-Islam rhetoric and racism.

I also think your portrayal of Trudeau and Zelensky is misleading. He’s incredibly unpopular in Canada right now and subject to a lot of the stuff our right wing throws at their enemies too.

I'd have thought the main issue with the "Tommy Robinson" part of my post is that American pro-Israel groups were funding him not just in the name of free speech but also to advance his ideas. As was stated in the Times of Israel link I provided.

And your Trudeau comment beggars belief. Why didn't you just write: "Unpopular Canadian leader Trudeau leads standing ovation to Waffen SS soldier to appease the Far Right following growing pressure".

I'm sure that's not what you're saying so please explain what you do mean when you write: ""I also think your portrayal of Trudeau and Zelensky is misleading. He’s incredibly unpopular in Canada right now and subject to a lot of the stuff our right wing throws at their enemies too".

I don’t think it’s much of a revelation that Stephen Yaxley Lennon is a political whore and hate preacher.

Another poster has already pointed it out to you regarding Trudeau and Zelensky, I see you were equally measured there too. Perhaps the fact that his unpopularity means everything he says and does is misreported, exaggerated and smeared by his political enemies and their media reach isn’t so much a conspiracy for you, but a reason to be cautious of blithely repeating things as you have here in both cases.

Read my comments about the fact that "Tommy Robinson" is being backed by American pro-Israel groups, not just in the name of "free speech" but also to advance his ideas again. The key point is obviously that they are trying to advance his ideas, not that he is accepting their money.

Re the standing ovation in Canada it is perhaps worth pointing out that the whole House, Trudeau's government and the opposition "his political enemies" gave the Nazi a standing ovation TWICE. I'm sorry that doesn't really fit with whatever pigeon-hole of beliefs you are trying to ascribe to me.

Finally. "Another poster has already..." means very very little when we are debating politics on a football forum. Come on Mullet, you're better than this.

I assume because of the downvote earlier that your comment here is directed at me.

My comment is taken from an article from The Times of Israel. Here's what wiki has to say about this publication, which by your reckoning is little more than anti-semitic/neo-nazi echo chamber.

"The Times of Israel is an Israeli multi-language online newspaper that was launched in 2012. It was co-founded by Israeli journalist David Horovitz, who is also the founding editor, and American billionaire investor Seth Klarman. Based in Jerusalem, it "documents developments in Israel, the Middle East and around the Jewish world."

What exactly is anti-semitic or neo-nazi about the article?

And apologies if your comment wasn't directed at me, but I'd like to know why you down-voted my first post in this thread. Is it because I posted a photo of Yaxley-Lennon on an EDL protest draped in an Israeli flag standing next to a man who's holding a placard featuring an identical image to a previous TWTD avatar of yours?

Hello again. Please explain how the article from the Times of Israel is repeating propaganda from anti semites and Neo-nazis.

On the flag issue, I have never carried or displayed a flag in my life. That said, I know people who have done and they are not racist to my knowledge.

Because these riots are nothing to do with Israel or Zionists. You're hijacking a thread on a very serious subject for all minorities in this country in order to demonise Zionists once again. Zionism is the belief that the Jewish people have a safe haven in their ancestral homeland. Opposing Zionism is denying the right of Israel to exist.

There are Zionists who are far right w@nkers. Just as there are right right w@nkers in every country. What you are doing is dehumanising Zionists. It’s a trick that another banned poster used to do, so that when 1200 Jews are next raped, murdered, beheaded, burned alive and mutilated in their homeland , people, can shrug their shoulders and say “well it’s just Zionist colonial settlers”.

Nick Griffin, the former head of the BNP, is a pro Palestinian anti Zionist but I don’t try and find spurious links and connections like that in order to demonise the Palestinian people, who are as deserving of a country of their own just as Israel is.

As for the dig about my avatar. It said “Free Palestine from Hamas”, what is it in that slogan you disagree with?

"Because these riots are nothing to do with Israel or Zionists."

If Tommy Robinson was being funded/backed by Russians, "Russian interference in British life" would be splashed across the headlines and rightly so. So yes, those backing SYL are implicated in this. To say otherwise is an intentional effort to whitewash any group of interfering in our society in general.

It's worth pointing out that the article I linked from the Times of Israel stated the ADL had pressed the US to refuse SYL entry into the States. I applaud them for this.

To say that in linking the article from the Times of Israel I was "basically repeating propaganda from anti semite David Miller and neo nazi Nick Furentes" was pathetic.

I entered this thread to expand on a point made by another poster who mentioned Gaza. So it's probably evident to others on the forum that pro-Israel groups funding SYL is not irrelevant to the riots as you claim.

Apologies, I forgot to answer your question: “Free Palestine from Hamas”, what is it in that slogan you disagree with?

I agree completely with it in the same way I want Israel fro be freed from her leaders.

Israel had been funding Hamas since the late 1970's in order to divide Hamas in Gaza from its leaders in the West Bank so Israel can claim (as they have done for decades) that a two state solution is impossible because they have no partner for peace in the country.

This had been detailed at length in both Israeli, US and other media... even in Wikipedia:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israeli_support_for_Hamas

It's worth a read, but I imagine you already know it anyway.

If your response to one strain of far right thinking, that Immigrants are responsible for all of this country’s ills” is to go on a social media platform in TWTD and engage in another strain of far right thinking ‘this is orchestrated by international Zionists with their financial power’ then you’re no better than the likes of Robinson and the Tates.

In a single day of dipping into this board and other forms of social media I learned that Zionists are behind a conspiracy to discredit the Algerian Olympic boxer, orchestrated protests in Venezuela, masterminded riots in the UK, screwed up Bangladesh, and are about to corrupt the Democratic ticket. What a fooking cesspit.

If we are going to bring Jewish people into the debate, I'd rather highlight this excellent statement yesterday from the President of the Board of Deputies of British Jews.

"As President of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, I unequivocally condemn the lawlessness and thuggery we have seen on our streets in recent days.

“Attacks on Muslims, Black people, members of other minorities, and our brave police officers, are totally unacceptable, and we stand in solidarity with everyone affected.

“As a society, we have to be better than this. We need a national conversation about how we promote respect for our country, respect for each other, how we tackle extremism, and how we build cohesion.

“The Board of Deputies will play its full part in this effort.”

A not unexpected development.

Online spaces that are being used to incite and organise the far-right-led riots contain messages encouraging followers to consider Jewish people as a target, community security experts have warned.

One forum, which was key to organising the first protest that turned into a riot last Tuesday in Southport, is allegedly jointly run by a suspected neo-Nazi. He is believed to be based overseas.

He is alleged to have called previously for attacks overseas on Jewish places of worship, according to research by the Community Security Trust (CST). Last year he was reported to the police for alleged encouragement of violent antisemitism.

One message in the forum insults “Gypsies” as well as Jews.

The CST monitors and investigates antisemitism in Britain and provides safety advice to Jewish communities. It works closely with the police and Muslim groups.

Generally, there is heightened fear and tension across communities that have already been attacked, as far-right organisers call for at least 30 sites around England to be targeted on Wednesday. Some are linked to immigration and asylum locations.

Those at the gatherings have directed their violence towards people perceived as not being white or British.

Organisers claim the gatherings are a protest over immigration, but the police are adamant that it is a “masquerade” for violent intent to physically harm minorities and asylum seekers, damage property and steal.

A CST spokesperson said: “There are some people in this movement and their online spaces encouraging others to consider Jews as a target, as well as everyone else they have identified so far, such as ethnic minorities, Muslims and asylum seekers.”
