Weird takes from the Far-Right Riots 12:21 - Aug 8 with 2615 views | bournemouthblue | I am seeing on Twitter (or X as Elon likes to call it) and some of it is completely mental It's the "Left's Fault" Two-Tier Policing Arresting Nazi criminals (is somehow a bad thing) The Rioters are actually patriots Starmer labelling some rioters terrorists basically makes him the Gestapo We are heading for a police state It's not Far-Right to attack the police, Muslims or Asylum seekers These people walk among us [Post edited 8 Aug 2024 12:22]

Weird takes from the Far-Right Riots on 12:33 - Aug 8 with 2456 views | NedPlimpton | The two-tier policing thing is the most ridiculous statement In reality two tier policing is being 8.5 times more likely to be stopped and searched if you're non-white [Post edited 8 Aug 2024 12:34]

The same people crying Two-Tier policing were loving the firm stance from the Police at Manchester Airport last month Now the police and law are being firm with them, they are suddenly crying foul You can't make it up can you?

I've mentioned this before but a young black lawyer I knew in the Treasury had been stopped something like 20 times while driving, whereas I had only been stopped once, over a longer period of time, for straying into a bus lane. I might add that I drove from south London into central London every day, and travelled to every corner of London at night for football games on astroturf.

Bots, crypto scammers and general lunatics seem to make up 95% of Twitter now. Elon’s master plan presumably to piss everyone off and make himself look like a c**t. Imagine how much good in the world you could do with all his billions. But no.

Weird takes from the Far-Right Riots on 15:34 - Aug 8 with 1850 views | DJR | Two-tier policing you say? The Metropolitan police in London have issued a statement to say they “are aware of the significant public concern around” a video being shared that appears to show Labour councillor Ricky Jones calling for the throats of rioters to be cut. The party has suspended him, with a spokesperson describing his comments as “completely unacceptable”. The police said “Officers are investigating as a matter of urgency.” A 29-year-old man who attended a protest against fascism in Plymouth has been jailed for 18 months after throwing missiles and swinging his motorbike helmet to knock a boy off his bike. Lucas Ormond Skeaping, 29, of Tavistock admitted a charge of violent disorder. The defendant’s legal team said Skeaping was “against fascism”, “abhors any form of racism” and had lost his employment at a bicycle company as a result of the incident. The prosecution said the man’s own GoPro camera had captured him throwing a full 500ml bottle of Coca-Cola and a rock. PA Media reports Judge Robert Linford, sentencing, said “you came to protest and to do so peacefully, but things rapidly deteriorated”.

Rich people are only rich because they stomp on the people beneath them. I honestly believe the currency of good humans is time, not money. Any nobber can be rich but we all can't be good humans. Particularly because a good chunk of humans have the same IQ as a battered sausage. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Are you giving that as an example of two-tier policing? It says the Police are investigating the allegations. It sounds to me like the Labour Party have responded appropriately, as well. As opposed to somebody who has admitted guilt and expressed remorse over their acts of violent disorder. The people who are being splashed over the news as poster boys for "Swift Justice" are those who, having been arrested, have agreed to plead guilty. If somebody doesn't confess then the Police have to build a case and prepare a file for the CPS. That's not an example of a two-tier system, it's an example of the two different approaches that someone accused of a crime can take in response to being charged.
Weird takes from the Far-Right Riots on 16:53 - Aug 8 with 1573 views | pointofblue | Regarding the two tiered policing allegations, I think this came from a video posted on social media purporting to show a police officer telling counter-protesters to throw away their weapons, and they wouldn't be punished for having them in the first place.

Is that "two-tier policing" or just a fairly ordinary attempt to de-escalate a potentially violent situation? Don't imagine many far right pogromists would have got arrested had they agreed with police to drop weapons and refrain from committing violent acts.

I was trying to make the point (perhaps badly) that the police are also coming after counter-protestors who have broken the law, so there isn't two-tier policing. As it is, the man involved in the first incident has now been arrested. [Post edited 8 Aug 2024 18:26]

Nobody seems to have mentioned that a guy in Southport who punched a police officer in the face has been arrested, charged, convicted and sentenced to 3 years (and rightly so) The people who attacked police at Manchester airport, breaking a female officers nose still haven’t been charged.
