Sight line issues 11:24 - Aug 18 with 3101 viewsrgp1

I heard yesterday and the club are aware of it regarding sight line issues in the west stand. But also I heard there were issues with some of the media bods standing up and blocking the view of supporters behind them. Perhaps Phil can shed any light on this?

surely all the media bods are in the media section ?

I saw some of the tv people sit in the section behind the dugouts, but there arent fans behind them.

I am referring to the large media gantry in the upper tier.

From my new perch up in the heavens of the West Stand it is evident that some of the RV seats morally should not be on sale. There was guy literally only had a view of the humungous steel upright 3 feet in front of him. Spent the whole match trying to peer round it which is not easy when there are people squeezed in either side of him.

How was your new view in comparison?

Wasn't aware of that but certainly possible people standing on the gantry could be in the way of the edge of the pitch if it has extended out, which I think it has. I couldn't really see the edge of the pitch from the old press box so assume would have been very tight all over.

I did get asked about the view I had by someone from the Premier League as there are new bars at the front of the stand, whether temporarily while work is ongoing or permanently. So, the PL were taking note of things along those lines.

I decided to move stand as I was one of those affected by the new press box. By the sounds of it I made the right call

Where did you head to? My relatives that were impacted moved to SAR upper. Good view but obviously a different viewing perspective.

Having been spoiled in the last 40 years having had such a good front row seat in the Upper West Stand, anything was going to be a downgrade. I am 17 rows further back , but a bit more central. But the sight lines are fine and if I was a new customer I would be perfectly happy with it. But in all honesty I miss my old seat !

Might have been me behind the post, row Q was not the best!
No reduction in ticket price of course, my fault for being so excited to get a ticket and thinking “how bad can goal restricted view really be?”.
Errrrr….. bad!

the view should anyone be interested

I went Upper Sir Bob. Totally different perspective but unobstructed view of the whole pitch. Not as good as what I had last season, but I reckon that I got as good as I could in the circumstances

well yes, thats what I mean, arent they all in there ? and it extends all the way to the back ? the roof line gets in the way for me to see the whole stand, but have they gone and stuffed some fans in behind them then ?

Sightlines were very poor. In Block M, Row H I can no longer see the near left-hand corner at all. They'll be even worse for those seated alongside the new box.

Club should have given thought to the impact upon those in the immediate vicinity, as well as moving those directly impacted.

There's no point now in asking for a seat move, as there'll only be dross left available; restricted views or top corners of the stands.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

Sad reality is that neither side stand is fit for purpose at top level in 2024
