Have we talked about Ben Brereton-Diaz? 14:26 - Aug 18 with 2834 viewsCheltenham_Blue

And his ridiculous reaction to get Schar sent off yesterday? Possibly his character the reason that McKenna seemed uninterested in him?

Dreadful exaggerated play-acting, but anyone who puts his head - even gently - into an opponent's is asking for trouble.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

Completely agree, but his reaction is something that I would never want to see from a Town player.

Indeed. Shame players cannot be cited - either by VAR in real time or retrospectively - for that level of simulation.

It's not really different to diving to be awarded a penalty.

I've always said, if the ref is going to send one player off in that situation, then he should send both off - might stop this sort of thing happening.

They gently head-butted each other. One went down, one didn’t. The one who didn’t was sent off. As embarrassing as the rolling around was, the resultant red showed you exactly why he did it and why any professional will continue to do it.

The disgrace is in the referee rewarding the man who fell and also with everyone else who thinks this is all ok

Oh man.
That's a shocker.
I hate to see that.
The ref's self importance whilst issuing the red annoys me too.
If moving your head in constitues a red, fair enough, but surely a yellow also for the over reaction regardless of the red?
Did either manager mention it post match?

Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

I thought they both did that though , so for me both should have got the same colour card ! Plus an Oscar for the cheat !

Eddie Howe spoke well. Criticised his player for leaving the ref a decision to make, whilst also saying the reaction was embarrassing.

Seemed about right to me. Can't see the red getting rescinded but be good to see a punishment for simulation too.

At the very least, if someone is knocked on the head to the ground & has that severe a reaction, he should be concussion substituted!

That's a point actually.

Did a physio come on for what technically would've been a head injury?

Quite telling in itself then. As per your comment, I do wonder if a mandatory off the field concussion test for 5 or 10 minutes would cut down on this crap.

This. Technically, it should be a yellow for simulation regardless of the fact the initial act is a red card offence. Should really be the same ban for Brereton-Diaz as Schar gets.

Ref should have insisted on the concussion sub at the time! that might have taught him. Long wait for a rule change ...

Eddie Howe's teams have also been well known in the past for doing similar things to get opponents sent off. I don't like it, but what goes around, comes around. The only way to deal with it is to give a suspension for obvious simulation.

Reminds me of Robbie Savage and Sereni 2001 at Filbert Street. I was that that day and I still haven't forgiven that c***.
