Is the club aware and interested in how leaky it has become again? We seemed to have that under control but currently the ITFC ship is like Swiss cheese.

There were more unconnected ITK's on this issue last week than I've known on here for a while - all getting shot down because the reports were that the medical had already been 'passed', yet the details they posted that have since turned out to be more accurate must have come from the club.

I'd imagine Ashton is furious.

I was talking to my son about this earlier today. It's a Premier League thing I'm sure. So many agents, journos and social media hacks looking for an edge or a scoop. We know the club's business was watertight but it appears to be yet another price to pay for promotion.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

From what I gather, the issue with the medical relates to his achilles.

I think the fans point wasn't so much about his current injuries it was more about he hasn't looked as quick since that injury in 2022. But as they said he really hasn't been playing regularly since he returned, and that cannot help

I obviously won’t name names but I’ve had a lot of early team news over the last year or so which has stemmed from a first team player telling his mates. Not sure how much detail players would get for a prospective signings medical however.

Not sure it's ever changed, things always get out and will probably do so more now there are so many more people working at the club.

Id be amazed.

The demands KM puts on his strikers and their work rate is huge. As we have seen superbly from Delap in the first couple of games. The issue in his medical was one the club were concerned about as they didn't think he would be able to contribute to the team anytime soon. Especially with that sort of issue it is one that can reoccur quite easily.

I imagine they could renegotiate the contract, particularly the 30m obligation as that gives us a bit of time to let him get fit. Maybe, we dot have an alternative we think is at his level. But I would have serious questions marks over his fitness.

“ The issue in his medical was one the club were concerned about as they didn't think he would be able to contribute to the team anytime soon.”

If this is the case, I’d hope the club would’ve learned from the Camara situation. We already have Hirst out; we shouldn’t be bringing in someone else who is already crocked.

The reason for having a 3rd centre forward of his quality, along with Delap & Hirst (Al Hamadi is a different type of striker, particularly when it comes to hold up play with his back to goal) is to have cover for an injury or suspension, because McKenna plays 2 in every match. The physical demands on that role, plus Delap's age & lack of first team experience, means that all 3 would expect to get plenty of game time over the course of the season.
But Hirst is already out injured, & will be for at least another month, so we need Broja (or whoever) to be ready to play a part immediately, coming on at the 65/70 minute mark. Delap can't keep putting it such a shift as he has been, without it taken a lot out of him in time; what happens if Hirst comes back in October, but breaks down again, Delap starts to run out of steam a bit, & Broja is still way off match fitness?
Of course we have other options & goals in our forwards, but we saw the drop off last season when Hirst was injured & we had to change our approach to playing Jackson up front or a false #9; we are just far less effective.
I was a big advocate of Broja coming in, but even if we feel that we can get him back to his Southampton level of pace & fitness, we can't wait until Christmas for him to become an asset, like we arguably did with Tuanzebe.

Been wondering about this deal.

Despite the rumours there’s been nothing official from either club, which I would have expected had the deal died completely. We obviously want him but given something has been found at the medical I’m guessing we are trying to renegotiate around the obligation to buy, which is completely understandable.

The club wouldn’t comment on a signing that didn’t happen.

RIP Sir Bobby
