Jack Clarke 21:58 - Aug 28 with 3880 views | ibbleobble | Very one footed isn’t he? Brilliant coming inside with his right but nothing in his left. Davis is going to have to put in some shifts to provide some balance and delivery out wide on the left. Looking forward to seeing that combination though.

Must be fairly hard given his output over the last couple of seasons.

Two problems with that comment as far as tonight goes. Townsend didn’t exactly go for the overlap and when Clarke went inside he just kept going before passing. Hopefully KMc will have time to explain what he expects before Saturday.

Never loses the ball which sticks to his foot like glue, ghosts and dribbles pasts players with ease, but yes he's not Messi.

I felt that when he comes in from wide and drops the shoulder to beat his man he was threatening and effective. When he cuts in without the same drive he gets pushed to the edge of the box, drifts in and doesn’t have anywhere to go, which crowds the play and we need to rebuild.

Same as almost all of our players then. Might as well accept relegation now.

Depends if you think signing the best of the championship to join the best of the championship is a good transfer strategy or not. Personally, I have no worries about staying in this division with or without Jack Clarke, just commenting on what I saw in his game tonight as a first look.
Jack Clarke on 22:20 - Aug 28 with 2834 views | WeWereZombies | I didn't notice him much in the first half but he seemed to be all over everything after half time, hopefully a sign that once he gets bedded in we will have an attacking midfield / wing force on the left to rival Omari on the right.

Came across this post as I was trawling through trying to find the Ukraine thread that was on the go for months and now seems to have disappeared. Anyway the whole thread is interesting one year on, with some decent insights. But the Grealish comment I find most interesting of all now that he has had his rebirth at Everton. Hoping that the early promise we have seen from Jack Clarke this season means he has his rebirth at Town and doesn't have to change clubs.

Couple of goals he’s scored should be a nice confidence booster. High pressure penalty too so late in the game. Definitely a player in there…

Been saying it for a while Grealish is now grealish of old. Allowed to be what he wants to be. But Everton have built around that Clarke for town is having the man city grealish difficulty in that we aren't built around him and he's asked to do a different role than what he flourishes at. There is however time for him to develop In this role but it could also be that whilst at town it never works out overall. We can only wait and see. I did find something really interesting tho when he came off the bench last week. He chested the ball down about 4 or 6 times instead of heading it away. Clearly something he's been working with

Jack Clarke on 14:54 - Sep 18 with 473 views | BouncebackIpswich | He is extremely one dimensional, a one trick pony. He can't be that difficult to prepare for. I personally think all wingers should be able to go both ways, really hope this is something the coaching staff will work with him on.

Yeah, I really wish he’d drive past his man on the outside and slot it home with his left foot in a 5-0 Friday night home victory one of these days.

Well it would seem that teams struggled to prepare for him a minimum of 24 times in his two seasons at Sunderland. Fulham didn’t prepare too well either when he ran the length of the field to hit the post and nearly kill the game earlier this year. JC is a better player than a ‘one trick pony’. I also think his game, despite limited opportunities, has improved over the last year in the most difficult of circumstances. I.e. no midfield whatsoever and a mess of a team defending most of time. He also, despite his languid appearance, has bottle. Taking that penalty knowing our heathy cadre of haters were queueing up to abuse him if he missed showed that. Lastly, when I look at players like Kayden Jackson and Freddie L, they were great. They maxed their potential here. The ceiling for Clarke is a heck of a lot higher. Supported, left to do his job and played in his best position - he will create mayhem in this division, as he’s done before, assuming the team settles down the way I think it might.

He also has a good weight of pass and switches the play cleverly. Those simple through balls, like to Szmodics on Friday night, have often been over or undercooked by others this season. We couldn't hope for a better "finisher" really at this level if that becomes his chief role.
