I love walberswick. Low tide on a summers day one of the best places to be. I don’t get the love for Sothwold in comparison.
I'd suggest the harbour end of Southwold beach. Rarely busy, plenty of dunes. Still in walking distance of the harbour or gun hill kiosk, or just roll over the dunes for a pint in the sail loft
Is the Bailey bridge (footbridge) still closed between Southwold and Walberswick? I grew up in Southwold and as a youngster I often went on runs across the Bailey bridge into Walberswick. Absolutely beautiful, delightful part of the country, wonderful views and feeling of huge open space, fresh air, and of course great beer if you can stop there. I miss it, and visit whenever I can.
The delights of the Suffolk coast have welcomed me back for 50 years. Who remembers the Southwold Dutch Barn cream teas?
Walberswick was our fave beach since the 1950's and the North sea was surprisingly warm. I head back up end September to cast my dear bro's ashes and enjoy a pint in the pub.

I like the contrast of the two. A favourite day is parking up in Walberswick and walking across the heath to Southwold for a bite to eat and then back again along the beach.
I love Walberswick. The video for The First Picture Of You by The Lotus Eaters (an 80's banger if you don't know it) was recorded there, and I always look at the hut and the dunes in the video. Lovely place.

A round trip starting at either place and taking in the ferry and the footbridge brings back very happy memories of my parents.

Holidayed in Southwold every year as a child (as my parents and grandparents had), so loved the place. But part of its delight was the walks up and down the coast, the ferry across the harbour and via Walberswick to Dunwich, or get the bus to Kessingland then back along the beach.
We bought two prints from an artist based in one of the blackish huts by the river. He told us he once sold a painting to Sir Garfield Sobers and took it out to Barbados.
He was scheduled to meet the great man in a restaurant. The staff there were really unfriendly and quite unpleasant. In answer to a question he told them that he was there to meet Sobers. From that moment on staff were ultra-friendly and plied him with free food and drink.
