Embarrassing.

Our manager is one of the best young managers in the world. He’s already delivered more than any of us could have ever hoped for when he was appointed. He rarely gets it wrong and his team never gives up. This group of players have either already given us more enjoyment and pride in the last two seasons than any of their predecessors have done for twenty years or they are new having played at most, a handful of games for us. Even without the late goal we matched or bettered Southampton in every key area.

If you can’t get fully behind the club at the moment, we really aren’t the club for you. Maybe consider switching your support to Man City.

People reacting in real time to a poor performance in an important game. If that triggers you maybe football’s not for you.

If it triggers you that he wants to back his team against negative ninnies, and can hold back from OTT in-the-moment silliness, then maybe football’s not for you!

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

I disagree. If you’re criticising, you’re not getting behind them.

isn't that the whole point of football forums, to be able talk about what is good and what is not in our performances whether good or bad. Do you turn us into be North Korean style happy clappers. Personally I thought Soton game-managed the second half really well and we struggled to get a foothold. I just did not see us scoring second half.

Because people need to learn a game is 90+ minutes, we won't have everything our way, and they're grown adults, not kids wanting sweets?

Not really the point though is it. I just think it’s unnecessary to have these condescending OPs which completely exaggerate and distort what was actually posted just for an upvote-baiting ‘look how much more of a fan I am than you’ set of comments.

Same S... different week.

I'll repeat again, in the heat of the moment i've frustratedly called virtually every member of them 'useless' during a game if they pick the wrong pass etc. On a forum with no match thread this usually means we get new forum topics rather than a rant which quickly gets lost and people move on.

The way the forum is set up lends itself to hot takes and then replies to the hot takes afterwards.

I shout stuff at the pitch/TV in the heat of the moment. I don't feel the need to go on TWTD, click "add post", type it in and then hit send. It's not quite "heat of the moment" by the time you get to that point. Maybe that's the difference between some of us old 'uns and the newer generation. I was dancing round my flat after the equaliser, but nobody saw it, I didn't feel the need to film it and share it on social media, and that's perhaps the way it should be if you've ever seen my excited dancing.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Wow, the North Korea reference is a little extreme!

You're well out of touch. You should be filming yourself eating your morning toast and posting it, and then evaluating your general worth based on how many views and likes you get. Shame on you.

I think the OP is spot on and if people don't like it they should either avoid it or learn from it. After the last 2 years ITFC fans ought to be the happiest in the country. And we've proven - on soooo many occasions - that we don't give up. We don't piss and moan. We keep the process going. It's got nothing to do with how much of a fan you are and more about how reactionary a fool/lacking in intelligence you are. Sorry, but that's it. 13 shots, 6 on target. 10-2 on corners. Doubled their aerial duels won. Three games unbeaten - our only defeats in our first 5 games are against the top 2. These are the facts.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

We’re all behind them. Just saying it, as we see it. We were poor. Especially 2nd half.

This is the reality of the Premier league, even against Championship level opposition, get with the programme as they say, we will lose more games than win this year, so deal with us not being "great" all the time anymore

Right again you’re just babbling on about something which isn’t related to the point at all.

We were pretty crap in the 2nd half to be fair and I don't think there was much in the way of hyperbole. Certainly lots of frustration and it's not unreasonable for people to express emotions accordingly.

Exactly. “Meek” was the word to describe that second half until injury time.

On balance of play, a draw was about right but Southampton were much better in the second half.

I get that and there were times today, especially in the second half when it was frustrating and we were below the high levels that have been set recently. It just feels a bit “off” to be criticising them this early in the season especially during a game when as was eventually proved we were always in.

Expectations from a section of our fans are too high for a newly promoted team. There’s no doubt that the (by our standards) huge investment in the summer has raised the hopes of a lot of fans but the reality is our starting point was miles behind every other team in terms of individual quality and squad depth. Even now, I doubt that there are any other managers in the premier league who would swap their squad for ours.

It’s a bit off and makes people look ridiculous when they want to take a hard position mid game. The game is 90 mins + added time. After the game it the time to melt down we all know that. What weirdos want to criticise at exactly the time the team needs the support.

More about a place to immediately and freely "talk" sh1t, with little real world consequence. I.e. the internet. This is the disease. The internet will eventually end what freedom we have left, ironically.

David Fincher's shot of Jesse Eisenberg repeatedly hitting refresh at the end of The Social Network felt prescient at the time but in hindsight was scarily so.

No it isn't. For clarity - my point was that the OP is a load of waffle because people posting reactions to events in one single half of the game as they happen is a very normal thing to do and trying to claim those posts are reflective of the posters' attitudes towards the match, players, and club as a whole is completely ridiculous and unnecessary. That is it, nothing to do with the stats, the general feeling towards the match as a whole or the recent history of the club.

To say people in the moment getting annoyed at misplaced passes, bad fouls etc are 'embarrassing' or not getting fully behind the club and should support someone else is stupid quite frankly, and ironically the most OTT bit of posting on the site today.

People are entitled to get annoyed at misplaced passes in the heat of the moment - they don't have to come on here and tell everyone about it. And if they do, not everyone will agree with them. Nothing stupid or OTT about that.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.
