Losing Axel for 6-8 weeks could be a nail in our coffin 09:09 - Oct 6 with 4693 viewsportmanking

Our only defender with any elite level PL experience/calibre. His positional play compared with Johnson's is like night and day. Very easy to see why West Ham didn't commit to a new deal readily.

You have to say Clarke's positional play is equally iffy. I fear for us down that right hand side.

I’m not writing Johnson off yet because he must have something for McKenna to bring him in but he’s got to improve considerably and fast if our right hand side isn’t going to become a real problem.

Like you I don’t think Clarke is the answer but he will get a chance if Johnson turns in another performance like that.

You do realise McKenna doesn't handpick recruits like Johnson.

He says I want an RB player with X and Y attributes, and the recruitment go out and do what they can.

There are of course names he will specifically ask for like Szmodics. But not all of them.

Marcus Stewart

Stewart on Injury 19th Nov 2001 10:36
Marcus Stewart says he will be back in training in ten days time after having an operation yesterday on his broken jaw. The Town striker was reportedly more upset at seeing yesterday's result than the pain he felt after his surgery. 0

Sure it wasn't a jaw injury? Marcus wore gloves in chilly conditions - not to protect a 6-8 week nail-in-the-coffin hand injury.

Hmmmmm.... did Axel trap his fingernail in a coffin lid? Common funeral injury.

As far as I'm aware, Kieran hasn't given a timescale, made the point that he didn't know how long post-match.

Having had a complicated wrist fracture myself, I was in plaster cast for just 4 weeks, but required extensive physio for months afterwards.

Bones fractures are usually completely healed anatomically in just 4 weeks, unless there is compromised blood supply to the area (the scaphoid bone in the wrist, just under the thumb being a prime example), however, ligaments and tendons can have even more complex and convoluted recovery times.

Sure, probably expressed myself poorly but thouht I'd covered that when I said "{and it's far from certain it'll be that long, 6-8 weeks is your and others' interpretation)."

Not sure where that shows any injury keeping someone out for 2 months.

Chambers broke his wrist and was playing within a month. https://www.eadt.co.uk/news/21442756.id-live-captain-took-us-want-lead-us-back--

Since Tuanzebe has already had an op, I would suggest it likely to be no more than 2 more matches. We will see, though. McKenna, as usual, has been vague about it.

It wasn't really meant to, but I thought it was a interesting article that explained the broad range of hand injuries footballer's may be susceptible to.
The thread is speculating on Axel's hand injury. None of us know what happened, nor the severity of the injury.
The article provides useful information on what may have happened and what any treatment/rehab might look like.
There are no doubt countless footballers who have missed games because of a hand injury. If they didn't play for us it's unlikely we'd ever know. Which takes us back the question of how many. Who knows?

Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

I didn’t realise we already had nails in the coffin. I’m so annoyed I’ve apparently slept through to April!!!! I had a holiday booked in February! Grrrr

I wasn't aware that we even ordered a coffin, or does the Premier League provide one for all promoted teams and we just have to provide our own nails?
