Bloody international breaks on 08:36 - Oct 12 with 2141 views | franz_tyson | I know. It wouldn't be so bad if we played games that meant something. We even have pointless games against the likes of San Marino and Gibraltar? Why? There's complaints from Premier League players about playing too many games. I want more. I'm missing 46 games a season. Sod pointless internationals. They should cut the number of qualifying games to a minimum and minnow nations should play in their league / competition ( San Marino/ Scotland, etc). No friendles as well. Just roll up to the World Cup/Euros with a part-time manager and throw a team together ad hoc.

Bloody international breaks on 08:42 - Oct 12 with 2104 views | Dubtractor | We've only played 7 games, and feels like this is the 5th or 6th break. Actually annoys me - especially given that the international games are pretty meaningless ones.

Yeah the international games are tosh. Nations League can get in the bin. Premier league schedule is crap. By next Friday we’ll have played 7 games in the 63 days since the season started. That’s a game every 9 days. Give me EFL 2 games a week please.

Yep. This time last year we had played 14 games, the year before 13, or something like that. Ah well, three games to play before the next one!! Then there isn’t one until March.

Four games till the next one, so 11 games by 23rd Nov, more than 3 months of the season, and a season that doesn't finish till 25th May! It's a bit of a slog this... From Man Utd its 9 games over the following 42 days. That's more like it....

Makes it hard to build up a rhythm or momentum. Especially as a large chunk of the squad are away over these breaks, so we can't even do much integrated training.

I think we had played 11 league games plus three cup games at the same stage of last season. edit. Sitters beat me to it. [Post edited 12 Oct 2024 10:14]

Bloody international breaks on 10:17 - Oct 12 with 1838 views | Cafe_Newman | I'm pretty happy with the breaks except for the fact that I have to wait longer for our first win. All this time gives our new players more time on the training ground together and for Everton, Brentford and Leicester who appear to be finding a bit of form to lose it. Finally, the more weekends we miss until Axel is back, the better.

They should do away with nonsense internationals and for that matter the qualifying should be condensed IMO. I also think the season should end earlier in Euros and WC years, give the squad a break and then a decent amount of time together before the tournament kicks off.

The Nations League should be scrapped immediately, today. End it. Nobody asked for it, nobody wanted it. There will come a time in the near future when domestic leagues rise up and go to war with fifa.

It's the price we pay for having International Quality Players # Bring Back J Norwood
Bloody international breaks on 15:52 - Oct 12 with 1383 views | ronnyd | Not enough footy seems to make some on here rather tetchy, with their endless sniping over their political and Middle east threads.
Bloody international breaks on 17:32 - Oct 12 with 1282 views | pointofblue | I know I'm in the minority, but I like them. I obviously prefer it if we win just before the break rather than having to dwell on a defeat for a fortnight but they serve a purpose. And the Nations League isn't an additional competition - it just replaces meaningless friendlies in the schedule. The break would still be there. Looking back, the September-October-November-March-June pattern is far better than how it used to be. In our last season in the top flight, England played games in August, September, October, November, February (which I think is the one which followed the 6-0 drubbing by Liverpool), March and April.
