Something just occurred to me… If you had a child who attends Hogwarts 11:18 - Oct 13 with 1970 views | Blueastheycome | And you lived in Scotland or northern England, you would be pretty cheesed off if you had to take your child all the way down to Kings Cross to board the Hogwarts Express just for them to travel all the way up north again to the Scottish Highlands where Hogwarts is. Surely its not beyond the realms of magic to add a few more stops en route to Scotland , is it? [Post edited 13 Oct 2024 19:13]

The train journey is part of first day of term routine. A chance to make lifelong friends like Ron and Hermione. Wizards won't be messing around with car journeys down from Scotland. They will use a port key or similar. Pull yourself together man.

I take your point about the first day routine if your child is a year 1 student, and to make friends etc However, come year 2, your child would have made their mates after being shacked up with them for a year already, so it does feel all a bit unnecessary to be honest. You mention port key. I’d be encouraging them to do that year 2 onwards to save the faff. Also, didn’t Harry and co take a flying car to hogwarts once? Surely thats against wizarding rules as you arent supposed to use magic in the muggle world? Its all rather nonsensical if you ask me.

I assume Rowling doesn't have much interest in sport to come up with that nonsense.... Imagine watching 90 minute epic football match. It's level 4-4 and your team score a dramatic 98th minute winner. 5-4. Then some tosspot for the opposition holds up a little golden bowling jack thing and goes (no no we win). Idiots.

There's a part in the books where Hermione tries to free the slaves and is painted as the bad guy. Unsurprisingly that didn't make the films.

Those wizards should get better jobs then - or spend less on broomsticks.
