I recently came across the following quote by Gramsci and thought everyone on here ought to bear it in mind.
"When debating with an opponent, try to put yourself in his shoes."
And for those posters who come under attack for having a view that no others on the thread share, let's not forget the words of John Stuart Mill.
“If all mankind minus one, were of one opinion, and only one person were of the contrary opinion, mankind would be no more justified in silencing that one person, than he, if he had the power, would be justified in silencing mankind.”

People don't debate on here. Normally the rule is most people take the first replies stance and it turns to abuse or agreement. People generally don't consider all views other than their own.

Exactly, you need a good cheese brake, you have to think safety first. It also as to be a cheddar surely? Preferably mature or vintage to really compliment the pineapple. Other cheeses, Wensleydsle, Dairylea etc obviously have there place it's just not squeezed up against a cube of pineapple on the end of a cocktail stick
Cheddar is the cheese of choice for the pineapple on a stick gig. Needs to be strong. You might get away with a strong, good quality Red Leicester (not the supermarket rubbery rubbish) or even a cube of Manchego Spanish cheese.
Manchego is joy when paired with Serrano ham in the form of a rollito so would probably go with pineapple. Possibly all three on the end of the stick. The hedgehog might look like it’d been ravaged by the cat but I’d give it a go!

All 3 on the end of a stick.. that's the stuff of mad mens dreams but I'd give it a lash. I don't wanna say it too loud in case the house is suddenly surrounded by desperate Mad Max style nutters trying to get to my stash. But my house is rammed full of Manchego and Serrano ham. (my partners Spanish ) I'm off to wrap some ham around lumps of Manchego

Food of the gods! Lucky you.
Bought a Serrano ham/manchego baguette at Alicante airport last week to stave off having to eat EasyJet’s vomit in a box minuscule pizza or butt cheek toastie (the plane was delayed). Despite the cost it was a creation of joy and did the job well.

Would be heavenly compared to the weird dry cardboard flavor crap on the planes. Why does plane food taste so bad? There surely as to be better then what there offering. Guess it's my own fault for using Ryan Air but still

I avoid the rubbish served on aircraft like the plague.
The thing about Ryanair is that they serve destinations others don’t, like Nice or somewhere close where my sis had to go the other week.
In addition cost airlines are generally cheap, assuming you can fathom the actual price and serve a purpose - providing you avoid the in flight rubbish and can endure the flaky service.
The worst was a few years ago when my chum ordered a Ryanair coffee. The air hostess accidentally dropped it over him, argued about replacing it and only after a lot of complaining grudgingly supplied some tissues for him to mop some of it off his white shirt.

I'm way to disciplined and stubborn to buy aircraft food but my partner isa suddenly starving ( and dieing for a G&T) the second she sits down in a plane seat. She will then find whats she's ordered to be inedible and It will then be left for me to have a crack at it.
My local airport is Knock ( West of Ireland) Ryan Air is almost the only option. And I'm tight as hell..

Gramsci certainly didn’t mean be civilised in debate if that’s what you think.
In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

Nothing wrong with that - you’ve gotta do what you’ve gotta do.
The other nifty thing Ryanair do is rig the scales. Me and the lads were coming back from Girona with golf bags the other year. Mine weight 16kg using two different scales. The Ryanair scales showed 19.5kg, just a fraction under the 20kg limit. Most of the rest of the others came in just over. Chaos ensued!

Where do you chaps stand on this sort of thing?
Its an interesting twist on a classic that i'm not completely against. I guess it partly depends on the cheesy pineapple to cheese and onion ratio. I'm thinking something like 4 cheese pineapples and then a cheese and onion may work. Possibly even a 3-2 ratio in pineapples favour may work. Anything more then that may be to onion rich

As someone once said to me ‘you are entitled to your view as long as it’s the right one’.😂

Interesting.
I was thinkinng two pineapple to offset the onion which presumably means three cheese.

'...philosophical hero, David Hume, was even more sceptical. He attacked the rationalism of Descartes, completely rejecting the idea that reason alone can tell us anything about how the world works. Even our knowledge of cause and effect, upon which our entire understanding of the physical world depends, is not established by reason or even observation. Hume was as sceptical about the power of reason as anyone. And yet he believed that we ought to think as clearly as possible, and proportion our beliefs to the evidence.'
Without being philosophical, it seems to me that many people's individual political views aren't really based on reason or evidence. Instead, they are more likely to be influenced by a combination of things like upbringing, parental influence, media influence, emotion and something innate in them.
Indeed, the existence of a right wing and a left wing indicates that people who could be regarded as completely rational can have completely different political views because their take on the world or the "evidence" is different.

Depends if the opponent is speaking from authority/evidence or just made up nonsense.
Even if they are talking nonsense, there is no need for personal abuse as often happens on TWTD.
I say this as someone who fortunately hasn't experienced personal abuse but it goes on at a low level all the time, and sometimes leads to threads being pulled.
Play the ball not the man is my philosophy.
