Favourite Takeaway 13:16 - Nov 20 with 2590 viewsChurchman

I have never had an Indian takeaway or a Domino’s pizza. Chinese, elephants leg (kebab), Pizza Hut (many years ago), fish and chips covers my limited cuisine experience in this form of eating. Of these close to my home in Kent, the takeaway Chinese is a good one so gets my vote. The kebab shop is ok but only a necessity after a beer to many.

Which is your favourite and which are the best in the Ipswich, Martlesham, Woodbridge area? It’s a cheeky question as I’m spending more time at the Suffolk house these days and on a need to know basis, I need to know.

Go to the Fat Cat with some chums, then order in some Indian from Masha - good stuff!

I can't stand the doughy stodgy pizza's you get from places like Dominos, so I can't blame you for that.

Indian takeaway is a favourite in our house, we've got a couple of good ones that deliver, although it never hits like a curry house with a few cold ones. I'm also partial to a Chinese when in the market for a takeaway. Unlike Indian that's one that I prefer at home, I never go out for Chinese food.

I grew up in Martlesham but none of my family live there anymore so wouldn't know where to suggest tbh. In Ipswich I can vouch for Zaika, been a few times and always been looked after, although no idea if they would deliver to you.

He lives in Kent, so I doubt it.

We have my late father’s house in Suffolk which I/we are using a fair amount now and not just when the football is on, hence the cheeky personal interest

Give Alishan in Kesgrave a whirl.

Fish and chips ~ I bought a takeaway from, I think it was called. The Ipswich Fish Bar (where The Bluecoat Boy used to be) back in the summer. It was OK but the best one recently was Andy's Fish Bar in Dumbarton, proper job chunky chips and decent sized battered Haddock for, wait for it...a fish supper...£6.50. I was a happy man.

There is a Thai/Chinese takeaway in Eavenswood that does wonderful Penang curry.

Try The Seashell in Halesworth. It is astoundingly good.

Chippy on the Square at Martlesham is decent, both Bengal and Shapla in Woodbridge are decent.

Haven't been to the Chinese in Woodbridge in years, but it was adequate last time I tried. If in Ipswich and you want Chinese then Mr Wings is decent but if your culinary tongue can muster it, go to Kwan Thai.

Noted, I was in Halesworth briefly on the same trip that I visited The Ipswich Fish Bar, if only I had known...and it had been a Friday. Interesting bookshop in Halesworth.

Not sure if Wongs is still going near the hospital but if it is it’ll be about 50 years now..had dips in quality over the decades of course but always had long queues for a place that didn’t take cards at least until 2015 maybe still and had no delivery service which I always saw as a good sign…and I always loved their stuff.

Still don't take cards I believe.

It's ok, bit hit and miss.

There's a cracking new restaurant in Martlesham in the old cycle shop near Tesco.

Truly impaired.

I ordered from Masha recently. £25 on food just for me. Proper went to town. It was flippin lovely.

Takeaways are always mood dependent for me. Most times I have a real hankering for a large cod and chips with curry sauce and a pickled egg from Nacton Road fish bar.

Not the best ribs, but we like pretty much anything else we get from there. Michaels is a good level, great choice, heavy on garlic on a number of dishes. If we are being lazy we go for Michaels, Wongs normally worth the call in advance to order and pick up.

Indian takeaway is my number one choice - my closest is Bekash which is mostly very good, but occasionally deliver a disappointing effort.

Have in recent times become quite partial to a shish kebab - super tasty and actually not unhealthy.

I like chinese takeaway, but we've only got terrible options near us so haven't had one in ages.

I do also like pizza, but domino's and pizza hut are dreadful. The Papa John's in Ipswich was good when it opened, but went downhill and too far away from us now (would be cold when it got here).

I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun. I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.
