Hassling the opposition defence a lot more than previous matches.

I feel for him a bit. He always seems to be joining games when we are under the cosh more than on the front foot.

He still hangs about and waits for the ball a frustrating amount of times. I'm sure he'll come good but so far has always looked lightweight

Yes, he's a player that stands out in a front door team. Understandably that's challenging for us at the minute but he's a good player.

Wrong boots on today I think. Slipped over about 4 times.

His touch and layoff to Chaplin was great and that should have e been the winner.

He's got talent. And I reckon he's gonna be a star. But he looks like that youngster you'd loan out to a top champ side to get minutes until he's ready for prem football..

We've got a bit of a tough gig at the moment where we have a few sub players that aren't quite the same level as those they come on for.

a niche perspective

I like him, and is improving under McKenna.

Doesn’t hide, is learning what he needs to do to fit in with the way we play and clearly has a talent.

He’s going to explode into match-affecting form (goals and assists) soon and we’ll be all the better for it.

He's been one of the best players in the championship for the last 2 years, he doesn't need more time there. He just needs more exposure to Premier League football, I think the current approach is right for him, 20-30 minutes seeing our games will give him that experience. He'll grow in importance to us as the season progresses, like Hutch last year.

Agree with this! I think someone on KOA or Blue Monday said Clarke showed more when starting against Villa. Bringing him on when we are under pressure isn't his game.

Plus we didn't try to get the ball into his feet which is his game. Thought he did ok though, some nice cameos and tried to make something happen.

Yup, he was massive in Sunderland's first season in the champ, managing to help get them into the playoffs.

He had a season with them in league 1, then 2 in the champ. He's got the experience at that level, just needs to push on a little to bring himself up to this level, he's game will come in time, I'm sure.
