Absolutely. I do wish people would stop trying to find ways of claiming that we're hard done by. In my view it was a foul in the box. It's agonising, but it's a penalty.

It's fine margins in this league. But sadly, the fine margins are going against us more often than not. We're not good enough. Only by a little, but sadly that's the position.

One win in 13 is the reality.

There was a foul in the box and a penalty was given. It's not VAR's fault. VAR did not overturn the ref. If VAR had overturned it, and we'd been the attacking team, we'd have seen the usual "I thought VAR was only supposed to be there for absolute howlers..." routine.

Kieran will rightly be focussing on the ways in which we're not currently good enough. That's the way it should be. He won't be sitting around trying to find all sorts of other things to blame.

I posted this during the game so I think you're applying a context which wasn't there at the time

Just an assessment of the incident at the time

Big dive but he did catch his leg

Suggest you watch it on sky sports highlights, there was contact, unfortunately

Sigh. Contact is not a foul.

Whilst I agree with you, What do VAR do though? DO they see he's made contact so there is no overturn? That's what I think has/will happen.

Its unfortunate as the guy has clearly dived/made a meal of it.

"Light contact, if any. Not impeded. Player has simulated".

Not difficult even for VAR. IF VAR followed the actual laws rather than the weird interpretations which become established.

It's an obvious penalty. I thought is was from 80 yards.

It’s a massive dive but had he just fallen over normally, the pen would still have been given.
Yes there’s not massive contact but it’s a trip and you can see why the ref has given it.
And once he’s given it, there’s no way VAR was going to overrule because there is contact.
Whether it’s enough for him to go down, I very much doubt it. But our players would have gone to ground as well, just maybe not as theatrically.
But it’s one of them where if the ref says no penalty, VAR would have probably stuck with that decision as well.

How is the foul on Chaplin not given against Leicester but this one is deemed a pen make no sense at all. These refs need to learn the rules of football.

Jota did the same to earn Cajuste a yellow card when he didn’t even touch him. There was contact but minimal for the pen. The sooner players are given retrospective penalties for diving, the better. It’s cheapening the sport and makes those doing it look like absolute p*icks.

You’re allowed to touch your opponent in football ffs

He didn’t impede him and the contact was nowhere near enough to send him to ground. I hate modern football.

THIS THIS THIS.

He caught him, absolutely no getting away from that. It’s a pen.

If that happens to us, and we DONT get one, the tears would be biblical

He dived. If he doesn't dive, he doesn't go down and so it wouldn't have been given.

Is 'contact' an official definition or a media device that's convenient for the pundits who have made their own rules up?

I'd agree, there's a marginal touch by Szmodics but it is a ludicrous simulation from that and it's bought them a penalty

People are saying it's like the Jack Clarke penalty shout, it really isn't, they one wasn't a penalty whether we like it or not

This one is incredibly soft, I'm sure if it was the other way round, Forest fans would not be impressed
