If they get someone in who isn't quite so stubborn over this playing out from the back at all costs tactic, they may get a bit of joy in the second half of the season.

They are an accident waiting to happen at the back but going forward, they have troubled a few of the decent sides and do enjoy a good share of the possession.

What’s the fan’s view? We’re barely any better and KM is secure, but then we know how big a challenge this is and KM has more than proven himself.

Depends. If their owners feel he's doing well for their project then that's for them to decide.

a niche perspective

Saints fans weren't overly enamoured with Martin last season. He's never been totally taken to by them whereas McKenna has basically been loved by Town fans from the moment he walked in the door.

The thing with Saints is, if they continue doing what they're doing, they are going down with less than 20 points, no doubt about it so it's easy to see what a change can do.

Our problem is different in that, it is largely inexperience at this level, lots of players taking a huge leap, a thin squad etc etc and a new coach isn't particularly going to be able to do much about that.

They are better offensively than us..it’s only our defence and better manager that has eeked us out a few more points than them. If we don’t sort out our attacking threat and get more clinical we’ll be struggling to survive too I think.

Pretty sure we've scored more than them, as well as conceded less.

I don't dispute that our scoring is our biggest issue though. We've done well to tighten the ship up at the back, but perhaps it's stifling us a bit.

Saints Web has a 300 pager, not necessarily representative of the wider fan base but most posters are desperate for him to go.
You get some quite gallows humour on there, especially on the match threads.

I sit next to a Southampton fan in the office and he just says it's pointless football.

Not particularly exciting and always that fear at the back.
