....since the Daily Express looked to convince an increasingly skeptical public that Brexit was a good idea by employing one the country's most beloved celebrities to offer their opinion.

Evidence?

I'm pretty sure everyone knew the energy cap was going up again. Which has always annoyed me - as I've said on these pages before, how can it be a cap if they keep moving it?!

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

No, but they’ll still be living with the disastrous consequences of Brexit unless this government does something about it.

I don't see why the Government should be doing something about it. They didn't give us Brexit.
There was a bunch of goons arguing both sides of the case. The majority of them have disappeared now, counting their winnings of betting against the £.

There’s still a god though, as that vile creature Crispin Odey is facing charges over sexual assault claims and is being pursued by the FCA for his “lack of integrity”. As Badger says, why is it always the ones you suspect?!

As for government intervention - I know what you mean, but it can only be the government who starts to undo the damage. Labour are the only ones who can do that, but seem very lacking on that front so far…

The government of the day didn’t do anything to stop it - a referendum is advisory. The opposition of the time did nothing either.

Like two bald men fighting over a comb, neither side of the Brexit argument had the faintest idea what they were on about. Lies and guesses dressed up with loud voices - and an elbow at the bar in the case of Brexiteers.

The funniest was how the nation waited with bated breath for which side of the argument Boris Johnson would go. A fat, flatulent, self serving idiot who knew less about it than my cat Wesley - and he wasn’t the brightest. You couldn’t make it up.

They all had the opportunity to rectify what was so obviously wrong right up to the end of 2019, from that shiny faced chancer Cameron through to Boris. But they put careers and party first while the opposition ran for cover. It was worse than the Charge of the Scots Greys at Waterloo. At least they tried to sound the recall.

Regarding betting, I bet people like that alien creature Reece Mogg had a few shillings on it.

Although from '72 to the early 90's it was the likes of Foot, Corbyn and Benn who crying over being in the EU.

Anyone who voted Labour in 1983 voted for Brexit. It was in the Labour manifesto. No referendum. Just a case of vote Labour - Leave the EU.

Remind me who you voted fr in '83 again?

Hey now, hey now, don't dream it's over

Hang on though, you said Starmer said they wouldn't go up. You've changed your tune now it's been shown he didn't say that.

Labour have only been in a few months and all these things had already been going up. The cost of living crisis started long before Labour came in.

Someone’s been misleading you.

- Energy prices are substantially lower than they were in 2022 and 2023 (not that that’s got anything to do with the government) - https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/research-briefings/cbp-9491/
- Council tax rises have been capped at 3% for next year. The current year’s cap set by the last government was 5%.

You should get angry at the people lying/misleading you.

As for pickups, can’t you get a single cab pickup or a van? Why should people who own vehicles that are effectively cars get preferential treatment compared to the rest of us? It’s a bit cack-handed way of doing it by vehicle type granted, but there are still ways around it even if this particular loophole has been closed.
