So… options for the attacking 4 against Newcastle? 11:34 - Dec 16 with 7330 views | unstableblue | Szmodics was cold/flu so he’ll be back, didn’t seem like we picked up many injuries, albeit Omari did put in one hell of a shift. Obviously Delap is out, which is a huge shame, as he has been pivotal to how we’ve been playing, and was involved in most of our best forward moves and gives us options to go long or into channels. Chaplin had decent moments Saturday, but a few passes that didn’t come off. Burns was overall pretty good, good shot and cross, but for me still looks unfit/injured and lacking. Options below, which do you prefer? (Note: I think H Clark will be right back after Saturday performance) Option 1 ——————-Szmodics Hutchinson—Chappers—Burns Option 2 ——————-Chaplin Szmodics—Hutchinson—Burns Option 3 ———————Ali Szmodics—Chaplin——Hutchinson Option 4 ——————-Ali Szmodics——Hutchinson—-Burns Option 5 —————Chaplin Szmodcis—Cajuste!—-Hutchinson Option 6 —————Chaplin Szmodcis—Taylor—-Hutchinson Option 7 ———-Chaplin Szmodcis—-Hutchinson—Johnson I’ve realised while typing this out there are far too many permutations!! Anyway do any of the above take your fancy?! Or what other option do you see? Maybe McKenna will stumble onto something that causes Newcastle real issues. Do they like pace and trickery in front of the CBs? Are they susceptible to running behind them?

That link has now been updated and shows Delap as suspended. R - FPL is basically the Premier League bible

So… options for the attacking 4 against Newcastle? on 04:55 - Dec 17 with 675 views | LegendofthePhoenix | Are we 100% certain that George Hirst is still injured? His knee injury v Spurs on 10th Nov was initially assessed as "not to bad, he seems to be moving ok" and then revised to "weeks and weeks" not "months and months". Just wonder if a surprise is in store.

So… options for the attacking 4 against Newcastle? on 11:52 - Dec 16 by DanTheMan | I agree, I don't think Szmodics would work in the same way Broadhead didn't work when Hirst was out injured last year. Might as well let AAH get some experience. [Post edited 16 Dec 2024 11:54]

Not the same thing at all IMO. Szmodics has played a similar role many times for Blackburn and been very successful in it. He's far more physical than Broadhead, who was never suited to it. As others have said, Al-Hamadi only has twenty minutes in him. Starting Szmodics is a no-brainer.

Hope springs eternal and all that, but I think it'll be too soon for Hirst unfortunately. They won't risk him breaking down again. Might see him before the window opens though, you never know. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

But yes probably some way off for him… ideally he comes back into contention alongside Delap and another proven striker

With JT/KP next to Morsy, at least we'd give them a fight in midfield if not up front! May catch them on the break with Szmods, Chappers and Omari playing off each other! Won't happen, but I do like the idea of it!
