I've been about half a dozen times.... on 19:56 - Dec 28 with 1576 viewsBloots

....over the years, going back to when it was at the Circus Tavern.

It was a bit more "serious" in those days, you even had to be quiet when the players were throwing.

Obviously it's nothing to do with the darts now and is just a massive p1ss up/stag do, which is fine but I've stopped going because it's got a bit too mad now.

Last time I went it was relatively easy to get tickets, from memory you had to sign up to the PDC website, but I expect it's a bit harder now.

On a related note, I was having a beer outside the 12 Pins pub after the match last night and about 6 bananas walked passed singing "England get battered...." and ended up getting into a row with two blokes dressed up as baked bean cans.

Surreal.

It’s relatively easy when they go on sale, obviously the latter stages sell out first.

I went about 10 years ago, someone on here was selling a couple of tickets for quarter-final night.
Saw van Gerwen, Anderson and Wright (and someone else I’ve forgotten).

Edit: last night there were some Oompa Loompas on our train who got off at Ally Pally, and at Ally Pally there was another group of OLs waiting to get on - one group heading to the evening session, one group returning from the afternoon session. There was nearly a Oompa Loompa war between the two groups.

Difficult to get tickets for anything other than the pre-Christmas dates now due to the Luke Littler effect.

I was lucky enough to go through work this year, we went as Snow White & the 7 dwarves and had a right laugh. It's a bit of a glorified p1ss-up really but the atmosphere was brilliant.

As others have said you'll need to sign up to the PDC site & then it's fastest finger first when the tickets go on sale.

the issue is the part of the darts youre getting into is actually watching the games.

the experience youll get at Ally Pally, you wont be able to watch the games, you wont even see the dart board properly youll be that far back, or hear the scores, youll be watching the big screen (which is how all the crowd instantly react when they get shown) surrounded by a bunch of people who drink 4 pint jugs of euro lager in one go, getting lairy and then get kicked out for it.

if that still floats your boat, go for it, Im sure its a hell of an experience.

for me Ill just watch it on Sky instead

I used to go to Lakeside/Purfleet/Winter Gardens years ago. I even did the Vegas Classic.

Darts crowds have changed significantly. It would be mostly knowledgeable people who would know who the players were at grassroots level and not go 'Who? if someone other than Taylor, Barneveld etc came out.

I'm all for a bit of noise at these events as crowd participation is part of what makes it but I'm afraid it drives me mad these days with the inane, repetitive chanting. As said already, it is basically a p1ss up.

Good by Wright or poor from Humphries? Bit of both, I think. Humphries nowhere near his best.
