They give him to us for 6 months to spend time with a good manager and backroom. If he does OK, they can keep him, or If someone like Leicester or Palace want him, they will pay £30 million. Can see Leeds wanting him if they go up.

Brighton seem to be a sensible club to deal with as well - Sarmiento joined on 3 January from Brighton - so maybe this is one that might happen early which would be super helpful... Only issues: 1. Not sure they were very happy with how much we actually used JS when we had him - will Brighton see Ferguson as a guaranteed starter when both Hirst and Delap are fit (I actually think that is possible as I am thinking Delap starts on the right - and that would solve a number of issues) 2. The McKenna business....
Should we be pushing for Evan in loan window? on 15:04 - Dec 30 with 1941 views | Denny32 | We could be in the running for him, considering the majority of clubs above us have strikers scoring goals and would not have him in first team unless desperate situations arise ...ferguson and Brighton don't want that scenario, thus will be more happy to go to a club that will give him instant gametime...as Brighton will need to have him scoring goals to reliase his true potential, otherwise his stock will only diminish and significantly lower his value..if they want to off load him...so I'd say us Leicester southampton Everton will be most likely his destination..only negative is his ongoing injuries..a bit concerning

I like the idea of a loan deal given the circumstances, we don't know what division we're going to be in next season so its hard to a) plan and b) attract on a perm basis. Much like Moore last year.

Front three of Rashford on left, Delap on right, Ferguson down the middle?

But that would leave Haaland and Salah benched...

...and Phillips going back to City unless we buy one of them! Edit: "them" being Rashford and / or Ferguson - or I suppose Phillips, not Haa rland / Salah [Post edited 30 Dec 2024 16:38]

Delap is better than him this season, and scored more prem goals. He might as well stay at Brighton and sit on the bench. Can see him going to Leeds who will guarantee he starts every game.

Delap isn't good enough to be playing every week in the prem yet. It would do his development the world of good to be able to be rotated.

I read that at never showered himself in the car park, which would have been a strange accusation. Do we really need another inexperienced striker? Or is he so good his age is irrelevant?

We can't afford an experienced striker and the loan option is a better use of resources.

Fair enough. I’d rather that than still spend quite a lot on a very average player. I’m still annoyed we couldn’t get the Ioannidis deal done. Having said that, he’s not had a prolific season so far, so I’m wondering if we’ll go back for him and a deal may be easier. Maybe not and he’s got European football so I can’t imagine he’d want to come here anyway.
