Morsy's tracking back for their disallowed goal was first class. He saw the danger and tracked him all the way from half way inside the Chelsea half. And then he switched off to let him get the shot away (I think Morsy was in the middle of handing his man over, and the Chelsea player made the most of that moment). Up to then it was great - Morsy's defensive work in general this season has been excellent when it's needed to be. |  |

From what I've seen this half, their MF is the bigger threat, so a nominal 4-3-2-1 might have been a better bet. Having said that O'Shea is a RCM half the time, which is working well, but when the build up is a bit slower we're lacking a man in the middle, and they can pop it around looking for a crack to exploit.

We can't afford to, can we? Maybe Wes could sometimes tuck inside to make the overload that way? Some teams do that, but it's not really his strength. Maybe we just need to all move up 10 yards. We do sit off a lot, yet seem so much better when we're on the ball and moving up the pitch as a unit. Not that I know what I'm talking about lol. | |
