From The Shed End 09:04 - Dec 31 with 2722 views | LegendofthePhoenix | I've trawled the match thread so you don't have to. "If the only good thing that comes out of tonight is the club decide to go all in for Delap then I’d take it" "Delap's done to Colwill and Tosin what Drogba used to do to Arsenal." "Delap has bullied us tonight; showing us exactly what we need up top." "Delap is what a striker who leads a team actually looks like not what Jackson has been doing" "F*****g w***ers the lot of them. Liam Delap though, what a player he is." "We can buy Liam Delap next month, sorted." Reply: “Would you sign for us, especially if you played for Ipswich tonight? I think I’d wait for Liverpool, Arsenal, City or Newcastle or someone.” "8 goals in the Championship last season -exactly the kind of record a donkey would have." Reply: “Not a bad return for his first senior year. Nuance is everything. It was very clear to me that he’s a quality striker. Almost every strike is on target. He’d score loads of goals for Chelsea and only 21.” You're welcome.

And there was me thinking ‘right, you’ve won the ball back so now play it safe and lay it off to Morsy’. But oh no, he has other ideas. Spins, barges his way through the middle of their defence and unleashes a shot that suggests he’s got an anvil in his boot. It’s incredible- he has no right to do what he does sometimes. He’s a rare beast in modern football which is usually safety first, percentage based play.

Yep. And there are other examples from the first half of the season - his shooting is so powerful and accurate!

Think he played wide right a lot of the time, but he scored a cracker against us from that position But yes, he has also improved a wee bit!

To be fair he has very little support and had to shoot as no other option but the power he has means keeper has to save and parry it out for a corner. Fantastic player.

He played on the wing and was injured for a good chunk of the season. McKenna has also improved him quite a bit already and he's also improving as he gets older. Need to remember he's still only 21. SB

Not a dissimilar trajectory or return to Harry Kane in his Championship loan spells to be fair, albeit he was perhaps a year younger. How Hull didn't make the playoffs with Philogene, Carvalho, Delap, Morton, Greaves etc I don't know. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

The thing I like most about him is that exact final point, more from the perspective as a supporter and actually watching him play. He's completely fearless, plays like he's up against kids and just knows he's better than them. I really hope that never gets coached out of him and he doesn't follow a similar path to someone like Grealish (albeit a different position). He reminds me a bit of a young Rooney, not saying he's as good or destined for that level of greatness but more in terms of the lack of respect he shows anyone and how direct he is.

Probably a little bit of both. To be fair to Delap he creates a lot for himself, an absolute beast.

He was played out wide right for them a lot not a straight number 9,
From The Shed End on 13:50 - Dec 31 with 1076 views | RIPbobby | For as great as he is in our system, how would he play in their system. Not convinced they would get the same out of him. They play a different game to us. Horses for courses and I'm not sure Chelsea would be the right course for him.
