Elon Musk sticking up for little Tommy on 10:04 - Jan 3 by Mullet
I'm not an X user, but if that isn't enough to encourage people to leave that cesspit in droves, I'm not sure what is. Musk is an incredibly influential and therefore dangerous person. The fact he's somehow become Trump's right hand man is very worrying.
Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

Bill Gates is a massive philanthropist and gets pelters from the lunatic fringe.
Might as well be an uttercnt and enjoy it, I suppose?
Bill Gates gets a lot of stick from anti-vaxx and other conspiracy theorists, but he himself has positioned himself at the centre of the techno-optimist cult. He even flew around the planet gathering knowledge and wrote a book on climate change claiming markets and technology are the solution. That is working out great, 40 years after William Nordhaus said the same thing. All that from a guy that has zero training in physics or any natural sciences. These people are narcissists and have little to offer in the way of a 'solution'. I notice the space cadets on this site post a similar take on climate change to Mr Gates.
Dr Angela Collier (PhD in Physics) made a great video about these billionaire clowns and their massive egos.

Social media more generally has had a toxic effect on political discourse but what is more worrying with Musk is that he is prepared to use his own platform to promote his own political and other interests.
And his influence extends way beyond the borders of the States, as shown by his recent involvement in Britain and Germany.
This is something that is unprecedented and very disturbing because up till now even totalitarian states didn't have power to control the narrative much beyond their borders or the borders of satellite states.

“Musk is that he is prepared to use his own platform to promote his own political and other interests.”
His Twitter acquisition was always about having his own propaganda tool, never about making money. That’s why one of his first actions was to delist the company - avoid diluting control to other shareholders, and avoiding the need to run it profitably for said stakeholders.
Fortunately I’ve never used X as I prefer to form my own opinions on things rather than seeing what all the talking heads are saying. I’ve no intention of ever buying one of his badly built cars either.

It’s possible that Tommy Robinson could be a violent racist and right. They are not mutually exclusive. From the rumblings and rumours going around I don’t think Musk and Robinson are the main story.

Being a violent racist comes with a bit of baggage - so it’s possible a violent racist says some things aren’t wrong but unfortunately being a violent racist defines a person. Are you suggesting Tommy/Steven is right about something and if so why not say what that is? Also what are the rumours and rumblings?

Given his propensity for lying about his finances, numerous frauds, covering his paedo friends etc. does that lean into him being honest about things?
Especially when he’s made a film Goebbels would be proud of and has nearly wrecked trials with his lies?

It is possible. But he isn't in this case. Demonstrably. Why are you defending him?

In my view a racist (whether or not violent) is never right.
As it is, Hope Not Hate has 57 pages of links to articles about Tommy Robinson detailing the awful things he has got up to, many of which are violent.
As regards his recent jailing, this is what the Jewish Chronicle reported.
The Board of Deputies has welcomed the jailing of English Defence League founder Tommy Robinson.
In a statement the Board said: “This past summer we saw how such lies can lead directly to hideous consequences on the streets of our country.”
They added that the verdict “sends a message to all that spreading falsehoods and hatred will not be tolerated in our country”.
The Board went on to commend the work of anti-racist group Hope not Hate, which they said had “led to this conviction”

You do realise that the science behind climate change has nothing to do with what Bill Gates thinks or does?

I think you’re right. He’s so vain and so rich that I can’t see another reason why he would buy it at a stupid cost (for anyone else) and then not care as it fails financially. It seems just for the platform/reach. There’s a logic to it as well, as we’ve all seen the power social media has over the gullible. Utterly warped values, but logical. It’ll end up just like the other right wing sites like Parker and Gab (are they still going?). He’ll be happy if he can use Twitter’s popularity to defeat that competition and became the right wing echo chamber of choice.
