Very happy with where we are right now 17:05 - Jan 5 with 1228 viewsDubtractor

Let's park the frustration with the late equaliser today, and look at where were are.

After the Bournemouth game, with a very tough run of matches ahead of us, I think it's fair to say there was some nervousness that we could very easily have found ourselves cut adrift a little by now. But we've taken 7 points from 5 games, got a better balance between attack and defence, and now have the opportunity in January to strengthen in positions that have badly needed it.

It's going to another horribly nail-biting second half of the season again - but after our years of irrelevance it's good fun, isn't it?!

Always going to vary week to week by result innit. People will struggle with their emotions based on the result, but when you’re out of that drop zone for most of the afternoon and things like today happen, it’s hard to shake.

I’m keen to see who else signs this week. Get some business done and a few days on the training pitch and we will look a different proposition.

'Fun' is a masochistic way to describe it but I totally agree with you. We've got a decent chance and I think that's as much as we could have realistically hoped for.

Spot on Dub, we need to focus on the positives, and enjoy being at the top table.

Yeah we've done well to find that bit of steel and balance that we had at the start of the season and picked up more points than I thought we would from the last 3 when I looked at them after the Newcastle defeat.

I usually find cup game breaks as annoying as International breaks, especially when you have a bit of a duff fixture, but think it's come at a good time for us to hopefully get 2 or 3 reinforcements in ready to go for the latter part of the month and beyond.

Hopefully Forest get the job done tomorrow then we've got just under half the season to overturn a goal difference margin. As you say going to be another close one all the way down to the end.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

I think we've found a good defensive setup with the three that currently play.

Cajuste is an excellent midfielder.

Johnson has now got used to the system and looks decent.

Delap is either going to keep us up or bag us a tidy sum to reinvest.

Godfrey is an excellent acquisition.

Just need to stop conceding these awful error goals late into games

Yes. You’ve summarised it perfectly, Dubtractor.

Think the next key is to rotate morsy and Phillips with starts.

I don't see the same morsy two games in a row. Likewise phillips.

a niche perspective

I'm with you on this one Frimmers. Morsy has been a fantastic player for us for the last couple of seasons but I think the captaincy is now stopping him from being subbed or rotated in this team. I feel our strongest midfield would be Philips and Cajuste and one of those pair being subbed for Morsy in the last 25-30 minutes. It's harsh on Morsy as he's been captain fantastic for us for so long but he's been poor in a few games for us recently and today was one of those games.
