What’s the state of young Gerrard Buabo’s injury/comeback at, anyone know?
[Post edited 10 Jan 18:39]

No idea, but he's not played since pre-season.

Is it though.

2 squads outside the first team which aren't good enough to provide the first team with 1 striker who can play against 20th place league 1 side Bristol rovers in a one off game and all you're asking for is someone who can play some minutes on par with a player who can't run and has come from league 2.

Not asking for a new delap. But surely someone can have a run out.

Again, simplistic thinking.

McKenna and his team know what's needed and why. There are lots of good reasons you don't just throw some youngster into the team.

You're really not some soothsayer who's seeing something everyone else is missing.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Gap to prem doesn't come into it. I'm not talking about the prem.

An yes aah will be involved. But he's clearly not fit so instead of dragging him through minutes and risking hirst too soon potentially to (, which we've done with him before) I'd hope we would give minutes to a youngster.

BTW. Fans are not ott with Aah. They just see an unfit striker being given minuted which he really shouldn't be playing and it's still baffling why he keeps being given them when he can't run.

Liverpool have a 16 year old, first year scholar in the starting 11 today

16 year old starting v Accrington

Sorry flash. Any cup fixture against lower league sides should imo feature someone or more than 1 from our academy sides.

Also. Cat 1 requires a certain number of academy apparences in the first team and if we want to attract youngsters we've got to show they will have opportunities..

We gave Buabo minutes in the first team last season, but so far this season he's been injured or ill/not played for other reasons in any of the teams.

Probably not one for a press conference as Buabo isn't a first-team player, but will ask next time I see someone who might know.

No, I just think he's wrong for ignoring our academy players in a home cup game v a league 1 side.

"Also. Cat 1 requires a certain number of academy apparences in the first team and if we want to attract youngsters we've got to show they will have opportunities.."

You sure about that Frimmers, number of first team appearances has never been on any measurement that I've read in the EPPP.

There is a measurement too, "Demonstrate regular graduation of players into the Premier League and the wider professional game", but not necessarily into our own first team. It's also a measurement to maintain CAT1, not to achieve it.

Happy to be corrected

Hi Chelts. You're correct with the specifics.

I was thinking of dyers words I think it was who mentioned it's importance. But think he may have referred to your found specifics. So I'm happy to be corrected here :)

I'm still annoyed about it as a personal opinion. I've found out promotion battles have reduced the appearence ability of youngsters and I get that side of it as KM would want the best players available at all times. But for me. Cup games especially those against lower oppo are the best times to give youngsters games. It doesn't need to be starts but 30 minutes or so imo.

Being honest, I think the issue is that there isn't a great deal in the yoofs to get excited about at the moment, bar a handful and one of those we signed in Tudor-Mendel.

I think that's a driver of the push for CAT1 the lack of quality coming through, its been some time since we saw the likes of a Downes, Woolfie or Doz.

We’re not Liverpool. Liverpool are one of the best sides in the world at home to a team struggling in L2. He also didn’t spearhead their attack.

Nonetheless Liverpool’s team selection is in no way relevant to ours. Your suggestion appeared to be that we should be able to magic up an academy player who is of a higher level than a guy who was one of the best forwards in L2 at 21 years old, who we paid £1m for, who played his role in our Championship promotion season and who Derby wanted to take at that level in the summer.

You actually ridiculously went a step further and said if we don’t have anyone more capable than AAH we should sack the academy off. Ali isn’t lacking fitness, he’s been fit and available for weeks. He’s lacking match sharpness as much as anything given he hasn’t played a lot, and ultimately at premier league level he’s lacking ability. Tomorrow is the perfect opportunity to give him 70 minutes.

No I said if we can't select someone from the academy to play some minutes in a cup game against a league 1 over aah then there's no point to the academy. And his performances have been terrible it's not about opposition. He just offers nothing he can't run. Can't tackle. Can't hold the ball. Gets in the way of his own team mates. He's just way off. But it's not his fault. We're throwing a lamb to the slaughter.

And sorry. You keep banging the drum of him playing a role in our promotion. Come off it.

Send him on loan. He isn't gonna help us even if he ends up being the only back up striker we have. So get rid and let him play lower league football for a bit.
For the sake of a cup game. Bring a youngster in and let them show what they can do or minimum enjoy being part of the first team. And give heart to youngsters that you can get games even tho we are now prem it's not a closed shop.

We can’t send him on loan because we literally don’t have anyone else. It’s really not that difficult to understand.

OK OK. There's no one else at the club who could for 10 minutes do the job aah does.

If there isn't 1 striker outside the first team that can't play a half against Bristol rovers at a better rate than aah with his fitness issues then shut them both down until cat 1 is actually doable.

I think Al-Hamadi's fitness issue is overstated sometimes honestly. Doesn't help if he's stuck at 80% because the surgery was unsuccessful, or if he's in discomfort, but any injury must be stable or we wouldn't be fielding him. He runs around at least as much as your average EFL striker. We just want him sprinting non-stop to compensate for his shortcomings in quality (for the top flight).
