This is the reality of Trump's pick to lead health in the US 20:55 - Jan 18 with 1268 viewsStokieBlue

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/jan/18/rfk-jr-covid-19-vaccinations

In 2021, when thousands of people were still dying, he petitioned the FDA to ban all the covid vaccines and instead use hydroxychloroquine and invermectin as treatments even though both had proven to be ineffective whilst the vaccines were highly effective.

The fact that there is a chance he could be in charge of US health policy boggles the mind.

Hopefully Trump chooses the main man as his own personal physician then. I mean, it makes logical sense doesn't it, that the President should enjoy the very best healthcare from the Health Secretary of his choice. Only the best.

When you think that people voted for Boris, and Trump twice, and some of the other nutters around the world, it does make me fear for the human race. It's like we haven't moved on from the Middle Ages, except we now have bigger weapons. And when I say weapons I mean that in both senses of the word.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

I've always thought it's like a pendulum. Once it swings one way it will then swing back the other to overcompensate rather than moving back to the middle.

The media and politicians have made it seem like all problems are due to immigration so I suspect we'll see an extended period of countries electing the likes of Trump with lots of slogans and little substance.

Truly impaired.

I'd love that pendulum to swing back to sanity but I'm not sure if it'll happen in my lifetime.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Bill Gates had a nice dinner with Trump and was "impressed" with him. Apparently Bill works in global health and there was me thinking he was a climate scientist. It would certainly confirm just how close the ideology of the right and the centrists have become. It will be interesting to see how far the centrists will go to defend their heroes such as Gates and Musk (Tesla and SpaceX very popular with the aspirational centrist).

Gates and RFK in the White House would be some look and the anti-science drivel coming out of Gates on climate change (we (the rich) can adapt to 3C of warming) and Kennedy's nonsense on vaccines/treatments will undoubtedly be replicated elsewhere in the world. Expect a big attack on science over the coming months.

Trump is just interested in money, power and ego. These appointments are just to serve these ends.

A lot can happen in a lifetime. One of my grandfathers was born before the First World War, lived through that, the Russian Revolution, the Great Depression, the rise of fascism and nazism, WWII, the 1960s, the 1980s, the fall of the USSR and the beginning of the technological revolution. Someone standing in the early 1920s couldn't easily have envisioned how things would look and feel at the turn of the millennium, less than 80 years later.

My other grandfather was born early enough to actually fight in World War One and, despite dying at no great age, saw all the changes up to the beginning of the 1970s.
