Exactly, we've seen how that's worked out and we saw Szmodics against Newcastle. KM likes a certain type of striker, not a Szmodics or other option you maybe thinking of.

AAH can’t play that role either

Al Hamadi deal now dead it seems (n/t) on 21:01 - Jan 21 by ITFCBlues | What other physical players who are good in the air do we have other than Hirst and Delap? |
Harry Clarke. Who is worth a go in an absolute emergency, having started as a Forward in the Academy.

Yep. They offered £1million but we’re wanting closer to £200k The poor lad, I hope he doesn’t look on here!

Brady, Szmodics, hell, even Chappers would all be worth a shout in an emergency.

We tried Szmodics against Newcastle. It was not successful. One concern is we really lack muscle up front, Delap aside. It'd be nice to have a number ten who can put himself about in a similar way. We're a bit lightweight as it stands, even if Enciso - who isn't even 6ft - comes in.

Yeah, another Delap type would be preferred. I’m just think of an alternative to Ali when we need to call on a third choice option late in a game. Agree it’s not ideal though.

Al Hamadi deal now dead it seems (n/t) on 21:30 - Jan 21 by algy | Showing my age but there was a time when some players were versatile enough to be able to play on very different positions. We've had players who played central defence and forward for example. A high quality coach should be able to coach versatility. |
With no offence meant to those players back in the day, who we thoroughly enjoyed watching as we grew up, I think the levels of professionalism and athleticism at the very top of the game have significantly advanced (even since 2000 onwards) and I think you need to be a specialist in a position to be able to cope with the specialists you face in opposition teams each week. Championship down, you probably get away with it to a large extent, but not at the very top.

Mind games from MA, getting his mates at WBA to pretend they are interested, now that deal has ‘fallen through’ low end champ/higher end L1 teams thinking ‘ooooh is he worth a look?!’
