Would assume miles apart then Phil?. Likely to be we wanted £1m+ and WBA were at a similar figure to Boro for Edmundson <500k? Any chance it might resurrect as a loan with an option? [Post edited 21 Jan 2025 20:17]

Don't know precise figures but get the impression there was a bit of distance between the valuations, but not sure it got too far into thrashing an agreement out. Not impossible if the three parties are keen, but I would guess Town are keen to move him on permanently if they can.

Suggests they are confident of getting a striker in then. As with Ladapo being allowed to leave last season, hell of a risk if not.

Whatās the play with Edmundson?Just trying to force a higher offer one would think, seems quite a harsh approach to recall him from loan and miss the game though, thatās serious hard ball.

I heard it was pretty close, they just asked him to sign in the box.... ....but he missed. Sorry. š„² [Post edited 21 Jan 2025 20:29]

He's not up to being the rotating striker if Delap or Hirst are injured. We'd be better off changing formation or whatever. Unfortunately* for Ali we've a) exceeded our expected progression from when he signed, b) Hirst got injured and c) we failed to land another striker in the summer. * not that unfortunate really, he's got paid more cash, had a great promotion experience, and he's young enough to get going again elsewhere and still have a chance to develop.

Bit of an impasse between the clubs at the moment. I reckon it will probably get done eventually as makes sense for all parties.

I agree. Ali is not up to it but it isn't his fault. We bought him as a possible wild card in a championship side, we didn't buy him to play on The Prem. One of those things, I hope he does well.

Indeed. Ali's fitness is also a question mark over a potential move as well, of course. A loan with a view to buy might suit the other club better initially.

Itās not a risk. As mentioned earlier the powers that be are likely to realise multiple other players could fill that role more efficiently

Showing my age but there was a time when some players were versatile enough to be able to play on very different positions. We've had players who played central defence and forward for example. A high quality coach should be able to coach versatility.
