If it just linked to the original story it would be quite useful - at least then you could judge yourself the veracity of it. There are some decent aggregator accounts there for other clubs

Whereas "ITKCruncher" has us going for Paul Pogba... (Which funnily enough I posted in Keno's rumour thread yesterday)

…has about 500,000 followers, so on that basis it’s credible. However the fact that the story doesn’t exist makes it somewhat less credible! Anyway, we’re signing Pogba and we can’t sign both! Innit.

Simon Phillips - who is credible - puts a lot of stuff on his subscriber only Substack which is maybe where the ITFCPublished account saw it. There seems to be a summary of that here: https://www.thechelseachronicle.com/transfer-news/the-chelsea-player-ipswich-tow

Through all the England youth squads, where he was absolute class, he was very much a 6 as a midfielder and think that suits him more so would hope that is where we see him. In the U19s Euros he was by an absolute street our best player when we were runners up. He needs to get out of Chelsea and I'd bite hand off to get him here

It feels like one to me where we spend a lot of time on it and don't get him, would worry is a bit of a time waste

My immediate thoughts were that we have greater positions of need in this window than CM, notably ST and possibly RW if Wes is out long term as well as Ogbene. However looking at our current options there seems a strong argument that it might be high on our list of priorities: Morsy - serviceable at PL level, love what he's meant to our success over the last 2 years but he's no more than that, and at 33 he's probably not getting any better. Cajuste - impressive in patches but rarely completes 90 minutes, and only ours till the end of the season. Phillips - not had anywhere near the sort of impact we were all hoping for, also only on loan Taylor - big moment at Wolves but mostly bit part player this season, and better as an 8 than a 6. Luongo - occasional stints warming the bench. If we don't strengthen this window then we'll definitely have to in the summer, being down to Taylor, Luongo (if he's still here then which is perhaps unlikely) and an almost 34 year old Morsy. It's his role that's been so key to our success, so finding a suitable successor is going to be pivotal to our immediate future. Someone like Chukwuemeka could help us now and future proof that position, and would fit our transfer profile perfectly being young english and high ceiling.

You mean put in the groundwork to sign him next year! Other than Broja, we seem to have a bit of a habit of chasing players, spending a fair bit of time on a deal to then not get it over the line, only to sign that player 6-12 months later.

Complete waste of time. He's off to Juve, I believe, and there's no chance we're winning that contest.

they'll probably offer him as p/ex when they go for Delap in the summer, perhaps we can give them first dibs on Liam if he comes here now. £100m should do it in June.

The Juve interest is reported as a loan. If Chelsea want the cash to manage their FFP/PSR cap then if £15-20m would do it we would be well in the market for him.

It's not to do with the money. He doesn't want to play for us. He's already turned us down. He's got the likes of Juve and Dortmund knocking on his door.

Shame if true, but understandable with juggernaughts like Juventus & Dortmund in the frame. Where has it been reported that he's rejected us? However if they only wanted a loan and Chelsea would prefer to sell, they might not be an option for him. Ever the optimist...

The advantage we have is we will do a permanent and most other teams only want a loan - if Chelsea dig their heels in then we have a chance but player will take a a lot of persuading [Post edited 29 Jan 20:51]

He will have played with a few of our team before as well with Villa/Chelsea/England youth teams? Philogene (sorry, Jaden) Hutchinson Delap Need to get them on the phone with McKenna. It does feel hugely optimistic though. If he really digs his heels in then I expect Chelsea will take the best loan deal they can get. Him going to Dortmund/Juventus and doing well will only benefit his value in the summer.
