Phillips 13:12 - Feb 1 with 2850 views | Len_Brennan | I got to watch the Liverpool game back a couple of nights ago & saw a lot of good play from him. I had thought that he was one of our better players on the day, but then saw a lot of criticism of him, so I doubted myself. One of the Blue Monday Podsters said the same on the preview for today's game. Yes, he hasn't looked like the player from the Euros a few years back; yes, he let Szoboszlai go for the first goal against Liverpool; and yes, he is being paid a King's ransom so we have expected more from him. But, he is better than what some posters are suggesting he is & he is one of the few players we have that can win & keep possession against quality PL opposition. If we are to stay up, we need to play him from here on & hope that his performances continue to improve as he does.
Phillips on 13:18 - Feb 1 with 2744 views | ibbleobble | A lot of posters only just started supporting us and started watching football. Most have never played football or not kicked a ball since school. Some don’t even watch our games regularly. I wouldn’t doubt yourself. You’re right, the other posters are wrong.

No this is wrong. Morsy has been more consistent. Phillips has been in and out of sorts, does not run with the player to tackle, will let them go. Morsy will still be here September Phillips unlikely. Jens Cajuste on the other hand, what a player. Jens and Morsy are the best pairing IMHO.

Phillips on 14:19 - Feb 1 with 2223 views | SuffolkPunchFC | Agreed. I’ve mentioned a couple of time before, many don’t appreciate the subtle things Philips does. He’s not flamboyant in midfield, but both stops and creates more than many recognise. He has the vision for some excellent cross field balls, and if he gets within 25m of the goal, has a great strike on him. Haters will be haters, but if we stay up I’d like to see us keep him.

Haters will be haters? What are you talking about? He's had more than enough chances to nail down a starting spot. He simply hasn't done enough We - the fans - do not pick the side - Kieran does. If you want to put this down to hatred - have the balls to stick this on Kieran. We absolutely went all out to get him and revitalise his career - but he's nowhere near the player he was.

Bizarre post. Loads of people post negative comments about Philips on here - one of the regular scapegoats. If you’ve not seen that, you don’t read the forum much. Bizarre - truly bizarre.

Was about to post about this. Yesterday’s unused bench had more PL experience than the team selected. It does reflect some of the several imbalances in the squad but also raises question about approach and formation. Surely Phillips and Godfrey would have added some experience in the last 20 minutes – increasingly our weakest period of the game. A draw would have been much better than a damaging defeat.

I was also at Anfield and totally agree. Speaking to some Liverpool fans on the bus back to Lime Street and they said exactly the same, yet someone started a post on here describing him as "anonymous". The mind boggles as to what some people are watching.

He starts now and needs to lead us out of the relegation zone. It’s a big call but Morsy’s role needs to change. If I’m KM, I get them both in the office, have an honest chat about where the football club is at and switch the armband and their roles. Morsy’s time is far from done here and he’s still an important player - we need a different more mobile dynamic in their who can play one and two touch.

Cajuste doesn’t seem to be able to last 90mins - whether that is the work rate required to cover others or long-term injury issues (or both). Phillips so far hasn’t performed up to his level (there have been glimpses) and Morsy is struggling with the PL a bit. So our central midfield isn’t firing on all cylinders.

Morsy has been consistently bad since December. Morsy will be here in September. In the Championship unless we start playing the best players at our disposal for each position

And the fact that he was able to perform as he did against Liverpool suggests to me that he is still a player out of the top drawer, whatever his recent struggles. I also don't go along with a lot of the criticism he received earlier in the season. [Post edited 2 Feb 10:44]

Phillips on 10:41 - Feb 2 with 1099 views | Bellevue_Blue | The fact that Phillips did not play a single minute yesterday tells you everything you need to know IMO. KMc has infinitely more knowledge of his system and the quality of the players he has at his disposal than all of us put together and so we can only judge this from his actions. No doubt that with the size of the investment he was signed to start for us. The fact that in February he still can't crack the first eleven is down to his continually inconsistent performances and inability to get us going forwards.
