How awful, and I very much doubt that the materials / funds to rebuild will ever be allowed in to Gaza as long as the Palestinians remain. Trump talking about the devastation whilst standing 3 yards from the chief perpetrator was frankly sickening. |

I doubt he views them as anything more than vermin to be got rid of. And he doesn’t care where because like all bullies, unless you bend the knee and are in his gang you don’t exist. Other peoples are there to be plundered if they are benign (weaker allies), enemies to be crushed.
He’s the other side of the coin to Putin and the other dictators, but they all do roughly the same thing and are very simple to read. Dealing with them is of course far more complex but I know what you don’t do under any circumstances. Appease.

Jordan have already said they would take sanctions over the rehousing if the Palestinians in principle and because to them it's an existential issue - if a whole area can be depoluated then what's stopped them being next?

Jordan already has 2 million Palestinian refugees, as well as around a million people from Syria, and an unemployment rate of 18% in 2023.
Many left from Gaza in 1967, and have never been able to go back.

The forced transfer of 2 million Palestinians in to Jordan would lead to huge unemployment and civil unrest. There are already millions of Palestinian and Syrian refugees in a country with high unemployment, it would destabilise the country.
People go crazy about a relatively tiny number of people arriving on boats in to Dover. How do you expect Jordanians to react to an influx of 2 million? | | | |
