Her mandate is to grow the economy. So far she's failed to achieve that and the forecast looks gloomy. I think another quarter or two of no growth will see her off.
Wrong.
Figures out this week showed we had growth in the last quarter albeit fairly anemic. The forecast was for contraction however, so a fairly decent upside surprise.
Sorry just replied to his post without reading further down page.
And to add, the expectation was for contraction.
Fairly poor to make a statement like he did given the figures came out literally this week to show otherwise š¤£
Though it was a per capita decline - as it was the for whole of 2023 and 2024. Adding a million people to our consumer market is just patching over the holes and isnāt making us more productive or wealthier. Serious long term thinking is required, but I fear this isnāt the government to do that.
Growth was 0.1% in q4 2024. Wow. This is a football message board mate, not Reuters.com

I don't see why it should be any different. Indeed, false information being promoted through larger social media is behind a lot of the world's problems at the moment.

If you don't want to be corrected on your mistakes then perhaps you should check first? I'm not the only one who has corrected you.
I'm great fun at parties, but it's weird to extrapolate ones personality away from the forum based on posts you don't like but then you've also resorted to insults twice already in this thread.
If I was going to use your methodology to extrapolate what you'd be like at parties based on your posts in this thread I would only be able to conclude you'd be a rude fool who walks around getting everything wrong.

Indeed the Bank of England forecast was for a 0.1% contraction, and I saw somewhere an independent estimate of 0.8% growth in January.
The following was also reported a couple of days ago.
"The UK economy will grow by 1.5% in 2025, according to a thinktank forecast, which said this would be fuelled by measures announced in the autumn budget.
The National Institute of Economic and Social Research (NIESR) said in its latest quarterly outlook, released on Wednesday, that the UK could be the third-fastest growing economy in the G7 this year."

ā¦itās a more accurate measure.
So technically he is right.

Economy grew by 0.1% but GDP per head fell and inflation is still high. Be interesting to see the q1 figures when published

Pretty bleak to have forecast a contraction for a quarter which includes Black Friday and Christmas? It will be interesting to see if the 0.1% projection for Q1 is achieved.
I did vote for Labour, I'm not upset by the story - I'm just looking at it from as balanced viewpoint as I can - I think it's poor PR and totally unnecessary on her behalf.
I'll continue to judge policies and outcomes based on what happens - exactly as I've always done and hence why I didn't vote Tory after 14 years of incompetence
I just don't really like the juvenile name calling/labels so many people use on political threads without adding anything of substance.
I look forward to your next contribution in the hope that it actually brings something to the conversation.
He corrected something you said in your previous post with an absolute fact - he didn't use bad language or insult you but you just come back with this?
