So...ST Renewals 07:40 - Feb 15 with 1786 viewsNeedhamChris

When do we think these will be announced, and what are we thinking?

I'm going 7-8% increase.

That was the average across the Prem last season but I think we'll come in under around 5% which is fair enough and still a very good deal imho

Given I sit in steerage, get a crumbles discount and can resell my ticket for games I can’t attend it’s a very good deal. If demand drops off I may move to a seat with a better view in West Stand, but probably won’t as I actually like being close to pitch where I can correct the lino and advise him on where he needs to improve..

Wonder if we will follow Leeds example.

Apparently they introduced a requirement for a season ticket holder to personally attend 80% of games. If you don’t meet the requirement you won’t be invited to renew. If you loan the ticket to a friend, or family member, it counts against you . Same if you sell the seat back for a game.

Not sure how easy to police that would be though. If you have an adult season ticket and you give it to an adult mate or family member, they won't know it's not you attending the game. It's only if you officially transfer or resell a ticket that they'll have any record of it.

"Season Ticket Holders must attend 80% of the home league games at Elland Road or they will not be invited to renew for the following season. Attendance shall be deemed to include:

Personal attendance at a match by a Season Ticket Holder using their Season Ticket

Attendance at a match by a friend or family member of the Season Ticket Holder, using the official ‘Ticket Forwarding Scheme’

A Season Ticket Holder puts their seat up for resale via the official ‘Ticket Exchange’ scheme."

So looks like it's targeting those who don't attend or pass on/sell their ticket.

According to this loaning the ticket or putting it up for resale counts towards your attendance. The scheme seems to be more aimed at ensuring 'someone' attends and the seat is used which I'm not against.

Generating income will be one part of their thinking but when demand massively outstrips supply if you don't make efforts to allow someone else to use your seat then it seems like a real waste (and quite selfish) to me.

That’s actually a good scheme

Depends what division we’re in, obviously

Go down and it’ll be a minor inflationary increase (max 5%), stay up and it’ll be double figures. Increase was c8% last year but non-ST tickets much larger, so expect to see that gap bridged

That makes sense. Ensuring the seat is used is a good idea and it's pretty easy to track and you'll know who has scanned in for the game and who hasn't. Trying to track an individual's personal attendance would be a nightmare, you'd have to ask for ID at the gate.

With CCTV you can also see and identify which seats are actually empty. However the Leeds rules look ok to me.

I don’t see much of a problem as long as the seats are filled providing it’s not by people getting fleeced by touts - if that was ever to become a factor.
