Forest twice in three games 11:00 - Feb 17 with 2170 viewsAsa

How often has that happened in the past for matches (where the second game isn't a cup replay)?

Can only remember Coventry in the league and FA Cup 5 years or so ago (think there was a third tie too as a replay?) where we've played the same team in league and cup in the space of a game or two.

It felt like we played Bolton every week in the late 90's.

Crewe was another one that I felt we played loads but probably did not.

In recent years Town vs Plymouth was a season-on-season fixture.

Sheffield Utd around the time Royle took over - one of those games being the famous 3-2 comeback with ten men. Am sure we played them a bunch of times in quick succession.

That was also twice in three matches.

I seem to remember we played someone first and last game of the season in the 80s.

In the days when the old bill didn't need weeks to organise for the overtime.

That season we played them on a Tuesday night (cup replay) and then 2 days later (2nd replay) - both at Portman Rd, the 2nd venue decided on a coin toss if my memory is right.

Remember it being proper cold/snowy too - no postponements because the paths were a bit icy.

I feel like we were playing Lincoln all the time a few years back, with Alan Judge scoring in the last minute every time.

Dark days indeed.

Hasn’t been possible for quite a few years now as requires a decent cup run.

I’m hoping for an Alan Judge last-minute winner on Wednesday . (My first ever Braintree game.)

Really since the late 90's because we were generally in the mix for playoffs, there was very little benefit to have a cup run
