***IF we go down, how do we feel about Jack Taylor starting CH games? 09:36 - Feb 25 with 1484 viewsBellevue_Blue

I think JT can be really happy with his progress over the last 18 months. Has rightfully been beyond Mass and Jens starting just 8 league games. However, with plenty of talk around midfield upgrades this summer, I wondered where most stood on him next season **IF we do drop.

You'd have thought he'd be pushing very hard to start. Would you be happy if he was starting most games alongside Morsy?

I think we would be better off buying the best two youngish and promising CM we can and giving them a season to develop.

I'm assuming there will be funds for some decent midfielders given the sales we would likely make.

That would then put us in a better position if we got promoted again.

We'll certainly sign at least one you would expect with Humphreys the other cover

We definitely need some extra physicality, I wonder if we will go back in for Downes

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

Taylor, Humphreys, Morsy plus a really promising CM would do for me. If we were to go for two midfielders (greedy) I would hope for one box to box Talbot style player and one defensive midfielder. Morsy can do that role but I’ve no idea how much he’s got left in the tank or what he wants with the rest of his career.

….to take up the offer of going to Saudi this summer.

He look so immobile of late, like he’s running in water. I’m not sure he’ll be up to the Championship next season.

We need an established, experienced midfielder to take his place and probably one other to add to Taylor and Humphreys.

I think Jack Tyalor would almost certainly start for us in the Championship.

With Luongo as a understudy, Morsy as a partner + 2 more it would be an incredibly strong department.

I'd imagine we will want at least two starters to come in and compete with him. I'd take Downes and Sheaf if it was affordable. Then maybe an integration for Humphreys and Morsy to rotate if he stays around.

On the basis that the back line should be quite healthy, I'm hoping there wont have to be a whole heap of changes in the summer. Obviously a couple of strikers will be high on the agenda.

If we are going to persevere with a 2 man midfield, we need to buy the best we can afford, on the basis we are buying for the Premier (Round2). The current guys do not hack it for me.
Brutal, but Morsy in 18 months will be even slower, Taylor has not shown me much, Cajuste and Luongo will be gone. We need to rebuild. The way Humphreys plays is more 10 than midfield and if we use him as a box to box midfielder I am unsure about his defensive abilities and pace to do the job. I think we need to start again.

Downes and Taylor will be a very good Championship central midfield pair.

Jack is improving but still got some way to go to be a starter.

He does and you may be right. But the intensity levels and the speed at which top players do things - and teams’ organisation means that PL maybe a little beyond him now, but Championship? Not so sure if the SU/Leeds game is anything to go by.

But yes, time waits for nobody - even Sam.

We need another morsy/ Phillips type
A Cajuste type
Taylor Humphreys,
Then see what morsy is doing I don't think this time he can expect to be a starter if we have aspirations of bouncing back,
Great servant to the club though,

We need to go big on this position in the summer. Someone who's comfortable in the champ with the potential to step up.
