Looking at Premier League teams' results in Europe, 21:52 - Mar 4 with 1601 viewscarlo88

especially tonight, makes me think we ain't doing too badly, two draws against Villa and a narrow 0-1 reverse against Arsenal. I suppose it is the best league in the world, in a number of ways.

I mean, we're in a relegation spot, we're not doing great.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

It does show how incredibly difficult it is. Added to that is the fact that even a club like villa dwarf Bruges financially

I think he's probably looking at the bigger picture.

But don't let that stop you typing a smart arse comment.

1 goal margin over 3.5 hours of Football against Champions league elect Nottingham Forest.
We are competitive for sure.

You’re not wrong about our position in the EPL, but you’ve also completely missed the sentiment of the OP.

I'd prefer we get smashed against the big boys but get better results against mid to lower table clubs. Sorry, but teams like Arsenal can easily do just enough against us to get 3 points even if its just 1-0. It's a bit near-sighted logic. For balance, we got 1 point out of 6 against Southampton.

Indeed, we've had enough of the season now to draw the conclusion that the squad just isn't good enough for this level. That's why we keep losing close contests and/or failing to hold on to a lead. However, the same applies to Leicester & Southampton. Hard to see what we could have done differently, apart from spending another £100m & risking a FFP trial.

4 shipped against westham
4 shipped against spurs
3 shipped against Man Utd

Not too sure Forest are the marker for this game

Forest were pretty happy to keep us at arm's length at 1-0 in the league game, as were Arsenal

And a Forest team with 6 changes from their previous League game. Yes, I know we made 8 changes, but this does make this game a very unreliable benchmark. I stand by my previous statement that the squad isn't good enough & we are only appearing to have an outside chance of staying up because the other promoted clubs are no better & wolves are having a pitiful season.

We have two points from Leicester and Southampton this season. That alone indicates why we're going to drop. If we'd have won 2 of those 3 games, it would have been a different story, but we did not deliver in either Southampton game, frankly, we were lucky to have drawn the 1st one and Leicester the Premier League helped ensure we dropped points for that one via their man in the black.
