Takayama is the best restaurant in Ipswich for food from the Far East. Possibly the best restaurant in Ipswich full stop.

On St. Nicholas Street. Book now!

I haven't been to Trongs since I moved to Scotland 5 years ago.

But I used to go whenever I could make the timings work around matches and the drive back.

Exceptionally good. You could go to 100 English towns, and go the recommended "Best Chinese Restaurant in Town", and I would be surprised if more than a couple would come close.

Precision of cooking and punch of flavour were exceptional. Consistently across each dish and visit. Service was friendly but brisk.

Really, really good!

5 years ago, mind, but I had a Proustian moment seeing it recommended and had to add my thought that a trip to Trongs five years ago is a Temps Perdu that I would like to Recherche.

The football's got better since then, mind!

Special shout out to 92 Noodle Bar behind the Salthouse on the Waterfront. Faultless every time.
