Every day on 11:01 - Mar 25 with 1228 views | Tractor_Buck | I never sleep in late and I love the Dawn Chorus at this time of year - yep, even the bloody pigeons. During the winter when the little blighters have a lie in, I set my clock radio to switch on to 'In The Park' on Magic Classical. Birdsong and laid-back music. Perfect.

When I first moved into my previous house about 30 years ago, it was double-glazed but I still had a moan sometimes about being woken up at 4am daily in spring by the flippin cuckoo going relentlessly full blast right outside for about an hour! Should have cherished it - rarely hear one at all now, just another species whose habitat humans are wrecking

Foxes shagging and fighting and digging up my garden again last night from about 1am. Proper ones this isn’t a Wayne Lineker joke.

I’m not made of money! I actually really like foxes and had them in the garden on their own here lots. I’ve never had this though they’ve wrecked two big compost bins and all the beds

Are you sure that's foxes? All the inhabitants of Co Leitrim, myself included know that late night howling as the Banshee. Back in the day was a sign of a impending death in the family apparently. Which is a bit of a worry as I have it right outside window most nights this time of year. [Post edited 25 Mar 14:51]

Never used to be before they got rid of the fishing close season. Although I do miss the glorious 16th. There was something magical about abstaining for 3 months that made you enjoy it all the more when you got back to it. Little did I know it was a pre-cursor for marriage and sex lol.

It’s odd well not odd but some mornings in the summer months I’m sat in my garden around 4am listening to all the birds and animals. Then we get the early morning Heathrow arrivals coming over, before they shift a bit towards the Thames around 6am.
