What a signing he has been for Forest. They got him for less than we paid for Muric. He has looked class pretty much every time I've seen him play this season.

Well it would have made some difference because next year we’d have the best keeper in the Championship

Oh I’m not in any way neglecting the importance of a good keeper, so I do enjoy countering my own arguments!.

Had we signed Jennings in the 70s I reckon we’d have won a couple of deserved league titles.

It’s all opinions but either way assuming we are in the Championship next season, keeper is the one area of the team I’m not worried about.

I agree with you for a large part of what you've saying and have admitted as much in my following posts. My OP was meant less of a slight against Muric/Town and more of me trying (not so eloquently) to give praise to Forests business.

My post was just a quick one, after watching the game last night, and before disappearing for a while to watch a film with the missus. Perhaps it's my own fault for not taking ba bit more time to think of my post, but my, my, this board is tetchy and rather divisive at the moment. I get that we're in a hole and it's going to take some getting out of but picking at each others words to the nth degree is not really going to help anyone. My post wasn't massively offensive, was it? It definitely wasn't meant to be, at least!

Wasn’t offensive at all, and my replies weren’t intended to be particularly attacking.

My original response was not really aimed at you at all but more to highlight how a keeper in particular can be hounded out at one club by the fans and go on to prove how good he is. I think keepers suffer far more targeted abuse than outfield players due to the nature of their role and the fact that their mistakes will more obviously lead to a goal against than a defender/midfielder, while all the good stuff they do is expected and not really recognised.

I would argue that Forest’s business has not been particularly praiseworthy, they’ve brought in 60 players in the last 3 seasons (perm and loan), based on the law of averages they were going to get a few right.

Maybe he’s saying they’ve got a good international recruitment network and buying players that have top flight European experience is a solid strategy and there’s good value there. However, I wouldn’t want to talk for him!

They also breached profit and sustainability rules, but let's just pretend that they did incredible business to get to where they are

Not the 'strategy' I'd be keen to follow

He was bang average for Burnley, a side that sunk like a stone, so that should have been something they considered but we signed O’Shea who was much the same, so maybe not.

Wasn't there a key difference in Muric being dropped and replaced with Trafford after making too many mistakes?

Presumably the thinking was that the mistakes were something that would stop or could be caoched out of him. However, he seems to struggle at times with his decision-making. I hope he comes good next season and we see what we paid for.

It actually went the other way round. Trafford was dropped for Muric at the end of the season

That's interesting. I seemed to recall it the other way round. Was Trafford brought in because Muric had made mistakes in the Championship? Or did Muric make them after replacing Trafford. I definitely recall Muric making a number that had been very high profile.

They spent a lot of money on Trafford so obviously didn’t think Muric was up to it, but their upturn in form at the end of the season was with Muric in goal

Looks like he made a couple but also won them some games

Data obviously has a place in sports but at times it completely ignores context, sometimes the eye test can carry a lot of weight.

I'm still baffled that he's signed on account of his ball-playing abilities, supposedly, and yet he doesn't have a left foot at all.

When he did a trivela pass in the pre-season friendly against Nice, I thought he was show-boating. After he did it two or three more times in the opening league games I realised that wasn't the reason.
