He’s a huge talent but I do think we lose a key aspect of the way we have attacked for the last 2 seasons when he plays *but* also realise he gives us an attacking type of threat we haven’t had. It’s all ifs buts and maybes. |
Equally, whilst Hirst has shown himself to be a talent since signing for us, Im not 100% convinced we can go into next season expecting him to lead the team as our No. 1 centre forward. Aside from the injuries, which effectively cost him the best part of half the season in two successive years, he does still have relatively little Championship experience and only 6 goals or so to his name. The goals itself probably arent a massive concern as we have others who can help with that, but its hard to know how his form etc will actually hold up in the course of a long season.

That does make me think Woolfenden should have been POTS when we got relegated from the Championship. I think it was mooted that we didn't have one but Chambers got it.

I just think he's looked consistently comfortable and unphased. He's looked every bit a Premier League defender and stepped up as well if not better than teammates from League One / Championship. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Thoughts on Player of the Season on 10:54 - Mar 31 with 369 views | ArnoldMoorhen | It could yet be whoever is the Chair of the Panel delivering the Man City FFP verdict. Losing Szmodics coincides with a severe down-turn in form, so I will be the 1% voting for him. Our most consistent player has possibly been Conor Townsend. I would have loved to see KM try him at LB and Davis ahead of him in one or two of our games against the top of the table sides. I think we would have been a lot more solid. He also could have maybe bought one less LW had he done that, and maybe spent the £20 million on a tough, big, Central Midfielder. That's the biggest head-scratcher for me about this season- so much money spent on flair players, but too little emphasis on winning the ball to give it to them.

Thoughts on Player of the Season on 11:14 - Mar 31 with 329 views | DJR | Delap is head and shoulders above anyone else, and has even trained with the full England team. And I don't buy arguments that his form has dipped since Christmas. The whole team's has (or perhaps teams we played the first time have adapted to us), so a lone striker is bound to be living off scraps. [Post edited 31 Mar 11:15]
